Night Whistle
Warning(s): none
This is very long!

"Where are you going this late at night?" Your mother asks you, a yawn slipping past her lips as she rubs her eyes in tiredness.
You adjust the strap of your bag and smile at her, "just for a night walk. I'll be back soon."
"Be safe and don't stay out too late." She says and plants a small kiss on your forehead, wishing you goodnight before heading to her room.
When you see the light of her room go off, you slip into your shoes and exit the house, securely locking the door.
Normally by this time, you would be wrapped in the blankets, possibly watching a show or browsing through your phone but no. Here you were going into the night in search of something- or someone.
For the past few months, a whistle-like sound could be heard. You thought it was a bird chirping or the strong wind, but both were crossed out when it became evident that that wasn't the case.
Every night, for a total of thirty minutes, a whistle tune can be heard coming from the nearby woods that lead to the mountains. It was crazy how you even managed to hear that but apparently, everyone else in the small town could as well.
Becoming intrigued and wanting to know more about the original source, you decided to look for it.
In approximately twenty minutes, the whistling will begin and that's enough time for you to go on your small hunt.
A gust of wind brushes your body from head to toe as you look out into the distance, turning on the flashlight to get a better view of the woods entrance. With a few breaths, you finally make your way into the woods.
Lazily waving the flashlight back and forth, your feet step on the dried leaves, crunching and turning into small particles. Crickets could be heard and the hoots of the owls, their bright eyes staring at your figure from above the trees.
You come across the small pond, ripples evident in the water from the soft wind. As you pass it, the whistling begins.
Yes! My chance of finding the source is high.
Excitement runs through your veins as you pick up the pace. The whistling slowly becomes louder and louder, your heart skipping a beat with every step closer to the sound.
Exiting the woods, the mountains come up next. The sound comes from the left side, so you head in that direction, being quick but mindful of the slightly steep area.
"I did not think this through," you pant, small beads of sweat evident on your forehead. "Where even-" your halt when the whistling comes directly from beside you.
Turning your head, you see a faint glowing fire, the crackling of the wood and slight burning smell present. I. . . I found it. I really found it.
You clear your throat and take careful steps, standing at the foot of the cave, "Uhm, excuse me? Is anyone here?" The whistling stops. Holding your breath, you begin to fear for the worst.
What if this was the wrong place? What if a bear comes out and tries to eat me? I'm screwed!
"What are you doing here?" a low, soft voice replies. Your eyes widen, heart momentarily stopping. "I'm looking for. . . someone."
"You got the wrong place. They're not here whoever they may be." they quickly reply, the sound of feet brushing the rough surface and the sound of metal dragging.
