Jake's POV
It seemed like we had been driving forever. Then we came across it. So many walkers. The windows had been open and Andrea looked like she was going to be sick. But that all stopped when we all realized we made it to the CDC. It was just a matter of getting through the metal doors. We all turned off the vehicles and just sort of looked at the building, wondering how we were going to do this. Everyone got out of the vehicles, the kids close to Lori, Amy, and Carol.
Everybody was breathing hard and coughing at the scent of death. Shane, Rick, and I walked up to the door and tried to open it. No luck.
"There's nobody here." T-dog told us.
"Then why are the shutters down?" Rick asked.
"WALKERS!" Glenn exclaimed, making the kids squeal. Daryl shot the closest one right between the eyes.
"Rick this is a dead end!" Shane yelled.
"Where are we gonna go?" Carol cried as she was holding Sophia.
"She's right, we can't be this close to the city at night!" Lori yelled to Rick.
Rick looked around as if he didn't know what to do. Thing is, neither did I. I had actually been pretty set on this idea as well, there had to be someone here, there just had to.
"Fort Benning, it's still an option." Shane said.
"Are you fucking crazy?!" Amy yelled at him.
"Fort Benning is a hundred miles, with no fuel and no food." Andrea said.
"A hundred and twenty-five, I searched a map." Glenn added.
"Even better." Amy muttered. I looked at her, she had a look on her face that was filled with hate... Towards me, that hurt.
"Forget Fort Benning! We need answers tonight, now!" Lori yelled.
"We'll think of something." Rick muttered to Lori, shakily.
"We can try to find an abandoned building around here." I stepped in.
"That wouldn't do us any good, just find us more trouble." Shane said. "C'mon lets go! We'll think of something!" He yelled to Rick.
And then I saw it, and I could tell Rick did too, the camera moved.
"The camera moved." Rick and I said, almost in-sync.
"You imagined it." Dale said as him and T-dog looked back at us.
"At the same time?" I questioned.
"It's an automated device, it's just powering down. Now c'mon, your families need protectin'!" Shane yelled at us both, trying to pull us back to the vehicles. "It's dead, y'all need to let go!"
"There's nobody here!" Amy cried to us.
"I know you're in there!" I yelled.
"I KNOW you can hear us!" Rick yelled.
"Please, we're desperate! We have women and children, no food and hardly any gas left!"
"No where else to go," Rick muttered.
Amy and Lori both tried to push us, but that wasn't gonna happen, I needed to have my family safe. And I know that camera moved.
"PLEASE! PLEASE!" Rick screamed.
Then Shane came over to help Amy and Lori move us away from the door, tears in both Rick and I's eyes.
"You're killing us!!" I yelled.
Just then a loud screeching noise erupted from the doors, giving off a bright light as everybody just looked at it, stunned.
