"They didn't pass the 'test'," Frost said, also still a bit dazed. "According to the gods, this whole shenanigan was just a dream." Lunar was stunned,"No. No, that's not possible. Where's the other-"

"They're taken back to their normal lives, convinced that everything was just a strange dream. For the people who did pass, well, here you are," a random man in pajamas explained.

Lunar was taken aback. "Where is 'here?'" she asked incredulously.

The man in the suit stood up. "You're on Mount Olympus."

"Whoa whoa whoa, hold on, you're telling me, I'm in Rome?" Lunar asked.

A blonde dude with a dark tan chuckled. "I think what you mean is Greece, and no, we're not there either. Plus, Rome is a whole different story. As for where you are right now...You're on the 600th floor of the Empire State Building."

Lunar's brain took a moment to process what Blond Dude was saying. Mount Olympus was on the Empire State Building? But...there was no 600th floor. Besides, even if there was, wouldn't people notice a mountain just casually floating high above the city? Lunar's brain decided that it was going insane and she was just hallucinating.

"Yeah, and Zappy Man and Pitchfork Guy over here both told us all that we're mortals that they basically kidnapped us and now they're gonna use us as puppets to do their work because they aren't strong enough and something like that! All I heard was that we're gonna get powers! Isn't that awesome?" Cammie was practically floating with excitement.

"Zappy Man," who Lunar now knew was Zeus, looked clearly unamused.

A woman in a white tunic shot a look at Zeus that read, Don't. Just don't, and rose from her seat. Lunar noticed that her eyes were stormy gray, somehow not matching her blond, wavy hair and pale complexion.

"Ahem. Perhaps I should explain in a way that is a bit more...clear."

Cammie jabbed Lunar in the ribs, a bit too energetically, and whisper-hissed, "That's Scary-Eye lady. Don't do anything stupid, or it'll end up a lot worse than with silver-circlet-lady."

The woman continued, pretending not to notice. "We have gathered you here today because we recognize each and every one of your unique talents, and we need them to defeat an evil source that is gathering over our world. You six have been chosen to-"

Lunar cut her off. "Um, but aren't you guys literally gods? You know, like, with godly powers? Can't you just, I dunno, snap and make this so-called evil go 'poof?'"

If looks could kill, the rest of the gods would have murdered Lunar right there on the polished marble floor.

The woman stole a quick, irritated glance at Artemis, coughed into her fist, and continued as if nothing had happened. "You six have been chosen to defeat a primordial deity stirring within the earth. A tremendous responsibility rests on your hands. Even we, the gods, cannot-" she swallowed, "-manage to defeat him on our own. His power goes far deeper- more ancient than any of our powers combined,"

All of the gods murmured and nodded in reluctant assent.

"We have recognized each of your talents. For instance-" she pointed her chin to Rasi in a sharp, quick motion, "you have always had a talent for speaking and using your words to persuade others, have you not?"

Rasi blushed. "It's not intentional, though."

The woman continued her speech. "A strange power seems to have blocked all half-blood abilities, leaving them unable to fight using their mainstream skills. Because of this, we needed to turn to mortals to help our world. We believe that you, our chosen ones, have potential, perhaps enough to defeat this darkness. Especially since you six are mortals, we will have the element of surprise against the evil. Monsters will also be unable to detect your scent. With the proper powers and training, you could become even greater and stronger than the half-bloods."

There was that word again. Half-blood. From the corner of her eye, Lunar saw that little brat, Rose, smirking with a smug glint in her eyes.

"So we, the gods, have decided to bestow upon you six mortals gifts of immense power. It will be your choice if you wish to accept or not, but remember that the fate of the world is resting on your shoulders. We trust that you will choose wisely."

The woman returned to her fancy chair and sat down.

Zappy Guy- Zeus, Lunar reminded herself, cleared his throat and began to speak in his booming voice. "Thank you, Athena. Yes, she is correct. We gave you small examples of your powers in the maze, as a test to see how you would react. I'd say we were right in our decisions." Lunar noticed a prideful look in his eyes.

There were different reactions among the six. Cammie was glowing with pride, Rasi was nodding slowly, but Lunar could feel her cheeks heating, the blood rising to her face. This...wasn't fair. These gods had the nerve to rip her from her own life, admit that they weren't strong enough to defeat some shady darkness dude, and act all proud of themselves? Lunar couldn't believe her ears.

"Now, we shall ask each of you individually to recite the oath. If you decline, we shall send you back to your own life and cleanse your memory of this place. If you accept, you will be sent to Camp Half-Blood, and your training will be in effect immediately."

Lunar cut in again. "Wait wait wait wait, what oath?"

Zeus's expression was solemn as he replied, "The oath of a Champion."
