"Now, we shall ask each of you individually to recite the oath. If you decline, we shall send you back to your own life and cleanse your memory of this place. If you accept, you will be sent to Camp Half-Blood, and your training will be in effect immediately."
Lunar cut in again. "Wait wait wait wait, what oath?"
Zeus's expression was solemn as he replied, "The oath of a Champion."

Frost was first. He stood in front of a blindingly bright throne. Apollo was sitting on it, a mildly bored expression on his face. Apollo explained that he was Frost's "Guide"- the god who had chosen him, the god who was destined to watch over Frost's life. He thought the concept was a little...creepy, but he didn't want to say so in a room full of already-slightly-irritated Greek gods.
"Anything you wanna say before you recite the oath?" Apollo asked.
Frost wanted to say a million things. What if I don't want to leave my normal life? What if I'm not skilled enough? Why did you pick me? But the last one was the worst thought.
What if I fail?
All of these questions formed on his lips, and he had every intention of letting them spil, but then he thought about it more thoroughly. Apollo had probably been stalking him for gods-know-how-long, and if he was set on his pick, Frost felt like he should be too.
"No. I'll do it."
Apollo nodded and stretched out his hands, cupped as if he was about to scoop up water. "Put your hands on top of mine."
Frost hesitated for a moment, then cupped his own hands, so his palm was facing down, and placed them on top of Apollo's hands to complete the sphere.
Almost instantly a light flickered in the space between their hands. It was a golden light, and it radiated with a brilliant glow. Frost couldn't look at it for more than a few seconds at a time without hurting his eyes.
"Alright, now repeat after me," Apollo said. "I, Frost Pratid."
"I, Frost Pratid."
The light shone even brighter, and Frost noticed that a few people covered their eyes.
"Accept my future and responsibility."
"Accept my future and responsibility."
Brighter this time, bouncing off of the marble and filling the room with light.
"And I will do everything in my power to do what is best for the world."
"And I will do everything in my power to do what is best for the world."
The light was now so bright, the entire space seemed as if it was pure white. Frost closed his eyes, but he could still see bright spots dancing in his eyelids.
"Because I am a Champion."
"Because I...am a Champion."
And suddenly, it stopped. The light faded away, and Frost noticed that others were rubbing their eyes and blinking. The room, as magnificent as it was, seemed much darker than before. But other than that, Frost felt the same.
No. There was something new inside of him. Frost found it hard to place the feeling, but it felt like a magnificent flame burning inside of him, bright as the light he had touched. It spread through his entire body, but it wasn't a searing pain like before. This fire felt...passionate. Like it was a part of him. Like it belonged to him. It felt exactly like 'Electricity' from Billy Elliot.
