As soon as those words left Steve's mouth I was on my way to Bruce's lab. "What happened?" I asked panting as I approached him. I locked at me worriedly.

"She was supposed to take down a Hydra basis with your dad. I don't really know how it happened but she was shot in her stomach. She lost a lot of blood but I was able to stop the bleeding. She's not in a critical condition anymore but she's in a coma. I can't tell you when she'll wake up. It could be in the next couple of minutes or in five years, I don't know." he told me.

I looked at him dumbfounded. "Can I visit her?" I asked. He nodded and motioned me to follow him. We walked down a few corridors before Bruce stopped in front of a door with the number 1984 on it.

Bruce nodded at me and I took a deep breath before I walked into the room. Natasha was laying on a bed with a lot of cables connected to her arms. She looked pale and had dark circles under her eyes.

It took me a minute before I approached her bed and sat down on a chair next to it. I brushed hair out of her face before taking her hand in mine.

I sat there for weeks, not even talking to the people that came by to visit Natasha. The only reasons I'd leave were to shower or to eat something.

After Natasha had been in a coma for more than one month and I had never even talked to her during that time, Clint came to visit not only her but also me.

"Hey, Al." he said as he sat down next to me on a chair. He patted my shoulder. "I know you probably don't want to talk to me about your feelings any further but I think it could be the one thing Natasha is waiting for before she wakes up. You're the only one that hasn't talked to her yet and I think she wants to hear you're there when she wakes up." he told me.

I looked at him quizzically. "Also you might want to showers beforehand. You look terrible." he joked making me slap his arm. But I knew he was right.

I stood up and left for a shower. After I dried my hair I put on new clothes and did a simple make-up to cover up the bags under my eyes. Then I went to Natasha's room again.

I sat down on the chair next to her bed and took her hand in mine before admiring her for a second. Even now she was absolutely beautiful.

"Hey, Nat. I know I haven't talked to you during the time you're here but I just want you to know that I've been there the entire time. I don't really know how all of this happened, how it could happen that you've been shot but I assure you that I will make whoever did this to you pay. Please just do me the favor and wake up. I just want to look into your eyes again. We didn't really have much time to get to know each other but you're not like any woman I've ever met. You're Special. And I'd like for us to get to know each other more. So please just wake up." I said.

I laid my head on her arm, still holding her hand in mine. I closed my eyes as single tear fell down my cheek. I wiped it away and sniffled.

I drifted off into a sleep without any dreams or nightmares until I felt Natasha's hand moving. My head shot up and I looked into her beautiful green orbs.

"Hey, Al."
