Rocky stood next to the window of her bedroom. She'd been waiting there since the king entered the bathroom to take his shower. With a sigh, she placed a hand over her stomach and imagined it growing. Soon, she would be able to feel her baby under her skin...
That thought was exciting and scary at the same time. She always wanted to have a child of her own but she certainly didn't want the confusion of not knowing who the father was. God was definitely punishing her through this. After all, she betrayed her husband and all the people that referred to her as a queen in this country.
When she heard the door of the bathroom opening after a while, she promptly dropped her hand and put on a smile. King Hassan was surprised to see her. He wore his thick bathrobe and droplets of water ran down his jaw to his chest.
"You are not with the harem girls?" He asked, opening his closet. "I thought you wanted them to put henna on your hands."
"Yeah, I was on my way out..."
She discreetly approached him, watching his strong back. She brushed a hand over his shoulder before taking a glimpse inside the opened closet. She could see the box for his hunting shoes. According to Raja, there was a safe behind it.
"Why don't you take me with you when you go hunting?" She asked, her eyes never leaving the box.
The king gave her a perplexed look and chuckled.
"It's not the type of activities I thought you were interested in."
"I am, actually. I think watching you hunt can be very exciting. Are these the shoes you wear when you go to the desert?"
"Wait-"
The queen ducked under his arm and grabbed the box before he could stop her. Her eyes gleamed with curiosity as she saw the chained safe behind it. Raja was right, after all.
"Oh." She feigned surprise. "What is it?"
She heard the king let out a deep sigh. He ruffled with his clothes, picking what he was planning to wear for the day.
"Nothing. It belonged to my deceased father, may God bless his soul."
"What's inside?"
"His journals, I think."
"That's interesting. Can I read them? I would like to know more about your family. You barely talk about any of them. Can I ?"
"Maybe another time..."
She bit her lower lip. King Hassan was out of the closet, humming a song. He quickly wore his pants and a blouse.
"But why are your father's journals chained? Is there something scandalous written in them? Do you have some kind of family secret you want to protect at all cost?"
