-Michael's point of view-
I dreaded going back to school the next Monday.
I'd never felt guilt like this before. What happened with Luke would not stop replaying in my mind; the sex, the mediocre romance, and the end. It was strange to think that despite my ineffable high I still did what I did without thinking. And now I knew that I would have to pay the price.
"Are you going to eat that?" Calum said. We sat in the school canteen, halfway through the day and I hadn't seen a glimpse of Luke anywhere.
I looked at the sandwich on my plate. "No."
Calum grinned, then reached over to take it. He took a bite, chewed, and then looked at me again. "Are you okay? You look a little sad. Also why isn't Luke here?"
I glared at Calum. He was being himself, but it was beginning to get on my nerves. I knew that I wasn't attracted to this boy. "I'm alright."
Calum took another bite out of my sandwich and managed to get some crumbs on the side of his mouth. I glared a little more. "Really?"
Groaning, I sat up a little straighter in my chair. Even if it was to Calum, I needed to vent. "Okay, I'm not!"
"Why?" Calum still had the food on his mouth.
"Why? Well, I'll tell you, Calum. Last Friday, or should I say Saturday, I snuck out of my bedroom at three in the morning only to cycle to Luke's house in the dark and meet him in his back garden, fuck him, and then I left him handcuffed naked to a tree." I exhaled.
Calum stopped eating from the sandwich. "You what-"
"You have breadcrumbs on the side of your mouth. No, that side."
Finally my friend cleaned his mouth, and then stared at me. "Are you trying to play a trick on me or something?"
"No."
"I didn't even know you guys were, well, romantically involved. Let alone fucking."
I shrugged. "Whatever. It's probably over now anyway, because I'm pretty sure Luke is never gonna want to talk to me again."
"Why the hell did you handcuff him to a tree naked?"
"Because I felt like it."
Calum finished my sandwich, then stared at me as if looking for signs of lying. He found nothing. It looked as though he was a little lost for words, because he just shifted uncomfortably. After about a minute of silence, he finally spoke. "You know what you should do? Do to yourself what you did to him. Like, handcuff yourself to a tree or something."
"Now you're joking. Do you think I'm mad?"
"Yes, I do. I mean, you've got to be a little mad in the first place to do such a thing. Also, do you really think an apology will make up for this? Dude, literally the only thing that could maybe get you out of this mess is to do something just as mad. And you know what would make this better? Do it in public!"
I laughed. For the first time in days, I actually laughed out loud. "You're the one who's mad!"
"At least I'm not the one who left their boyfriend-"
"Shut up," I interrupted Calum and my face fell again, "I'd probably just end up embarrasing myself. Besides, he will never forgive me for this."
"Even after all you've been through? Like making out in front of the head teacher?"
"You know about that?"
"Duh. You left me alone every lunch time; what else could I do except spy on you?"
"I underestimated you."
"Then don't underestimate my idea, Michael." Calum said.

If the stress over Luke couldn't be enough, I now had Calum's plan to worry about. It was enough to give me a headache. So, instead of going to class (not that it was unusual to bunk for me), I made my way to the library where I figured I'd find a suitable silence to think in. It was perfect, however as I sat down comfortably in a beanbag, I still felt the need to make a farting noise with my mouth. So I did.
"Ew!" I heard a little girl's voice from the other end of the room, and I laughed to myself knowing I'd done well. I made the name noise again. "Ew, ew!"
Laughing, I sat back in my chair and closed my eyes. Yet my peace didn't last for long, because soon my mind floated back to Luke and Calum. If I wanted to do what Calum said, then I had to plan it well. I couldn't just be stuck naked somewhere in public without Luke watching. This meant that I'd have to figure out how to convince Luke to come.
I didn't know the blonde very well, so I wasn't aware of any of his major interests that could lure him to me. The only one I knew of was his interest in me, but that had probably faded by now. Bored, I made another farting noise with my mouth. The little girl squealed, which made me laugh even harder than before.
Maybe a note on Luke's door would convince him. To be fair, there really was no other way than that apart from force. And that definitely wouldn't help me with Luke's forgiveness.
Before I could think of anything else, I felt a person's shadow tower over me. I looked up, meeting the eyes of the librarian. "Are you the one making those terrible noises?"
I looked behind her and saw a young girl. She was probably the one squealing. "No, miss."
"That's pretty hard to believe, considering there's only the three of us in this library." I opened my mouth to protest, but the old woman stopped me. "I will not allow you to make such terrible gas in here! Get out, rogue!"
The lady's words reminded me of when Luke called me 'rogue' on Friday. I frowned. The lady glared, and the girl behind her pointed towards the door. "Fine. Sorry, miss." I picked up my bag and turned to leave, and when the elderly librarian wasn't looking, I turned back around and poked my tongue out at the girl. She squealed again and I ran out of the door before she could get me into anymore trouble.
When I got out of the library, I noticed the school gates were left open and unguarded. I didn't really feel like going back to class, so after making sure there really was no one around, I made a run for it. I kept running until I reached the nearby park, and then slowed down. The park's emptiness reminded me of Luke when the two of us first got attatched and had to walk home together. I sighed again.
It was as if it was impossible to get Luke out of my mind. The image of me being this sad for even longer than necessary was scary. So, with what felt like no other choice, I shoved my hand into my messenger back and pulled out my notebook. I ripped out a page, and pulled out a pen, and then scribbled a small note to Luke. When I was content with it, a smile played at my lips, and I folded the paper into my pocket.
Then I made my way towards the nearest store that I hoped would sell handcuffs.
