I didn't expect this ending.

I didn't think there was anything he could do to hurt me, but here I am standing over a barren grave with a strange twinging in my chest. I didn't bring flowers, it didn't really occur to me. The gravestone I picked was plain, which suited the emptiness of the whole affair. The emptiness of the grave, of the space, of my body. I wore black. That's what you're supposed to do, right? At first I felt silly because no one else came, not even his body, but I started to feel a pair of eyes warming the back of my neck and suddenly felt relieved. At least I would appear to be mourning appropriately. Turning back to the car a small grey raindrop kissed my cheek, and as I looked up to the swirling sky I felt my admirers stare turn cold.
