That night we'd stayed at the manor. We'd been given separate rooms, but after I'd changed I immediately made my way to Regulus.

"So..." I hummed, watching him undo his jacket.

"So?" He queried, making me roll my eyes.

"So how do you think I did? This has obviously been my first encounter with him, so how does it compare with the others you've witnessed?" Regulus refused to look at me as he busied himself with his clothes. I knew I'd done well, I just wanted to see what his response would be.

"You did great." He muttered, laying his waist coat in the drawer next to his jacket. He needed a push. I walked over to him, my fingers cupping under his chin and bringing his eyes to mine. My other hand wiped his floppy locks out of his eyes, my gentle touch grazing his cheeks.

"Don't go back to keeping things from me Regulus." I purred, lifting myself onto my toes to lay a soft, warm kiss on the side of his neck. I felt him relax with my touch, his skin warming under my fingertips.

"He seemed... intrigued." Regulus looked down, his hands landing either side of my waist. "I'm so glad you're here Eloise, but I don't want you to..." I lowered my hands to his chest, slowly undoing the buttons of his shirt.

"You don't want me to what?" I whispered. Regulus had done so well, fulfilling everything I had wanted him to. But things had changed. Now he had more purpose than ever.

"I don't want you to put yourself in more danger than you need to." He breathed as I reached the final button. As I looked up at him I couldn't help but remember the face I'd analysed earlier. The way his eyes had watched my lips and the way his voice made my skin tighten. I slowly slipped Regulus' arms out of his sleeves, my fingers finding their way to his mark.

"Lets just focus on tomorrow for now?" I smiled up at him, my thumb running along the swirl of the snake. "One thing at a time." Regulus leaned down, pulling my lips up to his. Just before our skin touched he paused, our eyes so close that our focus blurred in and out.

"One thing at a time." In that small moment I felt his hesitation, his fear that this had all been a mistake before his tongue warmed my mouth. I flung my arms up around his neck, asking to be closer to him. He responded correctly, pushing me backwards towards the bed, both of us messily scrambling to remove our clothes. He pushed me down, the weight of his bare chest pressing down on mine, winding me for a moment. My fingers dug into his back as his hand slipped in between my legs. He saw my mouth opening as he slid his finger inside of me so threw his mouth back onto mine, hushing my moans. As his fingers entered me slowly I slid my mouth across his cheeks to his ear. I nibbled at his earlobes, licking down the curve of his neck making his breathing shallow above me. There was a creak outside the door. We both froze, out necks snapping towards the noise. With his fingers still inside me I focused on the stream of light coming in from under the oak. There was a break, a dark patch. Someone was standing outside the door. I felt Regulus fretting silently above me, so quickly placed a hand over his mouth before he had the chance to make a noise. I slowly pushed him off me, biting my lips as the warmth of his fingers abandoned me but I never looked away from that small break in the light. I gently lifted myself off the bed, fighting away Regulus' worrying grip. The old floor boards took my weight silently and I began tiptoeing towards the door. As I was half way there my left toe connected once again with the wood, but the plank creaked. It was quiet, just a small release but it was enough to frighten our intruder. The shadow under the door moved swiftly into the abyss, so I leaped towards the door opening quickly in hopes to catch a glimpse, but all I saw was a long empty hallway with a cold night breeze passing through.

"No one." I huffed, closing the door behind me. Regulus looked ghostly. We both feared that we knew who the presence had been, but I hadn't quite realised the full depth of his terror. Just the idea of that man passing by our bedroom at night seemed to send him into a trance. I placed myself next to him, forcing my body to shiver to make him notice me. He slowly lifted the duvet and threw it over the both of us, opening his arms for me to lie on his chest. As we lay together I couldn't help but wonder about the shadow and whether it was him. If so, how long had he been there? I felt my stomach twirl at the idea he'd heard Regulus' frenzied breathing, and whether he'd listened and wondered what I was doing to make him whimper like that.

"Regulus" I whispered. I felt him shuffle slightly beside me with a small mumble. "Everything is going to be fine."

"How can you know that?" He asked softly.

"Just trust me." His arms tightened around me and I smiled, excited for all the chaos to come.
