I stood outside the manor, letting the darkness hide me. Something shifted in the air, and I suddenly felt uneasy. I looked up to see him. His outline was perfect and crisp in the window, the orange backlighting of the room giving him a godly sense of holiness. Despite not being able to see his eyes, I knew where his gaze fell. I ascended the steps and knocked on the large double doors. He was still staring out the window as I was escorted into his study. He was distracted and cold. After asking for a detailed debrief of my task he listened without moving, although I wasn't sure if he was hearing me at all. His eyes remained pointed out the glass, only turning to face me after I'd finished talking.

"Thank you, Miss Griffin." He walked to his desk, placing himself down on the old wooden chair. I stood in confusion, and in disappointment for the lack of attention I was receiving. However, I've never been one to accept less than what I had hoped for.

"My Lord" I stepped forward as his eyes flickered up to mine. In the slight flicker I saw that devilish smirk, only for a second but it was enough to enlighten me. He wanted me confused. He wanted me starved for his attention, like a pathetic child. I grinned.

"Thank you for your time." I turned and left letting him watch me as I exited his study, his place of safety and comfort, just as he had mine.

This happened the next three visits. Whatever he wanted me to do, I wasn't going to do it. I wanted the victory. I wanted to destroy him more than I had anyone else in my life. I wanted to hold his soul in my hands, only to throw it away. He'd got into my head and started something I wasn't prepared to walk away from. The fifth time I decided to try coax him out by wearing Regulus' white shirt that he had caught me in weeks ago, only this time it was paired with a skirt and not so many undone buttons. His eyes clocked it as soon as I walked into the dark study, I could feel the switch in atmosphere. Instead of his usual stagnant seated position he got up and walked past me. I heard the key turn in the door behind me.

"Now..." His tone was menacing and my body trembled with excitement at the feeling of him looming out of sight, like a predator hiding in the shadows. "...there you are." I turned to face him, a grin growing across my lips.

"Here I am, as per your request my Lord." He laughed, looking at the floor as he shook his head.

"Do you really want to play games with me girl?"

"I'm sure I don't know what you mean my Lord?" I battered my eyelids as he approached me, my neck slowing craning upwards with each step.

"Your lack of fear only proves your naivety, Miss Griffin." He growled, stopping just shy of touching me, but I was prepared this time. I wasn't going to crumble.

"Or perhaps..." With so little space between us to allow another step forward I placed one foot in-between his and the other to the side, bringing our bodies together. "Perhaps, it is your lack of fear that should concern you." His breath hitched. I could feel the electricity exploding through his veins, a chaotic mixture of shock and anger. Suddenly a large hand slammed around my throat as his body pushed forcefully against mine, making me stumble as he thrust us backwards.

"You turn up here..." He bent his head down to mine as we whooshed across the room. "To my manor, to meet me..." He snarled menacingly. "In another man's shirt?" My lower back smacked against the windowsill, pushing my hips forward into him as his large torso leaned over my head forcing my shoulder back against the icy glass. I coughed at the impact, my back stinging.

"Strange..." I breathed angrily. "...I seem to remember you quite liked this shirt on me." An involuntary growl escaped from his lips as his hand tightened around my throat.

"Why are you here?" His voice was louder, less composed. Our heavy breaths fighting in the small pocket of air between us.

"The same reason you are." I stated through choking breath. He furrowed his eyebrows.

"To bring the wizarding world out of the shadows?" He asked sarcastically.

"No." I smiled, my face reddening as it became harder to breathe. "Power."

Something lit up in his eyes, a deep hunger that had long been avoided or ignored. My words matched with his hand around my throat filled him with both despise and desire. His eyes lowered to my grinning lips, turning bluer by the second. He began lowering his face to mine, blinded by the eroticism of anger and hatred. I reached down my side, slipping my hand through the slit in my skirt to grab the wand attached to my thigh.

"Careful, my Lord." His hand loosened as he felt the tip of my wand digging up into the bottom of his chin. His eyes widening at the realisation of the smuggled weapon."I'm spoken for."
