Everything Has Changed

Seventeen

I absolutely can't be here. In a hospital. They'll find out everything. "Get. Me. Out!" I yelled and started to take off the cords to the monitors. Jensen and Four rushed over and held down my arms. "Baby, calm down. It's okay. It's okay." He said and I looked into his eyes and felt at peace. My heart was racing but now, I feel better. Cheesy right? 

Someone was after me and I knew it. I've seen the murder M.O before. I taught it actually. I also taught that same person to not leave anyone in that person's inner circle to live to tell the story. "I- I know who did it." I said and a dude a really cute dude actually came to the center of the bed. "Are you okay now?" Four asked and I looked at him. Worry etched across his oddly enough perfect face. "I'll be fine. Thank you both. Jared, Jensen. I'm sorry but get out." I said and Jensen looked at me confused. 

"What why?" He asked and I looked at him. "Because one: I don't want you hearing this and two: I don't want you to see me get arrested. So please both of you, get. the hell. out." I said and he sighed. Jared put a hand on his shoulder and they both walked out. "Talk." The dude said and I nodded. "When I was in Dauntless, there was a kid who I took under my wing. Chadwick. You remember him Four?" I said and he shook his head. 

"I taught him his methods, showed him how to do it. But I didn't think it would come back on me. I taught him how to kill, and I told him not to leave anyone alive that were in the victim's inner circle." I said and the detective dude nodded while writing something down. "Well Claire Snow, thank you for the cooperation. Unfortunately though, you were right. I have to arrest you. So, Claire Snow, you are under arrest for accessory to murder. I really am sorry." He said walking around my bed and placed one cuff on me and the other on the bed rail.

I grabbed his wrist with my other hand. "Find him damnit. Or I will get out and I will find you and do worse to you and then to him then he has done to anyone. Understand?" I said and he nodded. "We'll catch him." He said and walked out. "Four, I need you in Canada. If he goes back there, kill him. Understand?" I said and he nodded. "Okay. Whatever you need" He said then kissed my forehead and walked out of the room then in walked Jensen. 

"Oh God. Claire. Why?" He asked and I sighed. "I've done horrible things and it came back and hurt the people I love. My mom, Four, Tris, you. I told you, it's not a good idea to be with me." I said and turned my head from him. I can't see the hurt in his face. Or the disappointment. "Claire, I love you and nothing can change that. What did you do?" He asked and I sighed. I told him everything about Chadwick and when I was done, the doctor walked in and saw the handcuffs.

"Okay Claire, so your vitals are good, you've made a crazy fast recovery. But, we are going to keep you overnight for observation. And tomorrow well, you know that part." He said sadly and I nodded. "Thanks." I said and Jensen shook his head. "This isn't fair." Jensen said and I looked at him confused. "What isn't?" I asked and he scoffed. "You shouldn't be the one cuffed up. You changed!" He yelled and I smiled. "Jensen, I'll be fine. I'll be out in no time. The worst I could get is 15 years okay? I'll be fine." I said and he looked at me like I was an alien.

"15 years!" He yelled again and I looked at him. He needs to calm down and he needs to do it now. "Calm down!" I yelled over him and he stopped. "Jensen, I. Will. Be. Fine. Don't worry. I love you and if I get 15 years, I need you to move on okay? Find someone better than me." I said and kissed him. Jared walked in but I didn't care, I needed to be in his arms. 

We were on the brink of actually getting down and dirty but as much as it pained me to do so, I pulled away from Jensen. "Oh, thank God. I though I was gonna have to leave!" Jared said and I laughed. He noticed the cuffs and was instantly pissed. "I'll kill them." He said through gritted teeth and I smiled. Jared wouldn't hurt anyone and I knew it no offence to him or anything. "Please both of you stop it. Keep him in line yeah?" I looked at Jared and he nodded. 

"I need you to get along with Four okay. Both of you. He has only the best intentions for me." I said and Jensen groaned. "Put the measuring tape away and do it for me please." I said and he nodded. "Did you read that note?" I asked and Jensen looked at me confused. "It will explain everything. Well most of it. Just don't hold me to anything in it okay?" I said and he nodded. "Okay I guess." He said and I smiled. "Don't you have a family to get to?" I asked and Jared smiled at me. "You are my family now Claire. But, Gen is pretty worried. I'll update her and leave you two to it." He said and I smiled at him. He walked over and hugged me. "Take care of him. If I'm not out in two years, make him move on." I whispered in Jared's ear and he gave me a sad nod then walked out.

I moved over but winced at the pain going through my leg. Jensen gave me a concerned look but I just smiled. This is terrible, Four was right. I shouldn't have come back. But  should spend as much time possible with Jensen. I patted the spot next to me and Jensen sat carefully down next to me. "I'm so sorry." I whispered because one: I am so disappointed with myself. I caused three more innocent people pain. And two: I drug Jensen into my mess. And he doesn't deserve it at all. "Why are you sorry?" He asked and there was a knock on the door.

"Yeah."  I said wiping my face quickly as someone walked in. "So you finally got busted." Who the fuck let him in here? "Looks like it Peter. What do you want?" I said and Jensen looked at me confused. "I just wanted to personally tell you that besides Four and Tris, the rest of Dauntless is done with you. Sorry, sucks to be you." He said with a smile and walked out. "What's Dauntless?" Jensen asked and I looked at him trying to fight back the tears that were threatening to spill.

"You probably didn't hear because the factions were split up in 2000. But, when I was a little kid, the government put us into factions as an experiment but also to keep the peace. Abnegation, Erudite, Dauntless, Amity, and Candor. I was born Erudite, but chose Dauntless and they became my family. When I took the test to be sorted, I was divergent. Which means that I was all the factions. But, I chose Dauntless.  They are well were the police of the factions and fearless. But they took away the factions but some of them stayed together like Dauntless. " I explained and he listened giving me a nod every so often.

We watched TV and Jensen talked about our future together. I know, I know. It's horrible for me to let him do that but, he looks happy. Finally, in the morning, I woke up and Jensen hadn't left my side. The doctor knocked on the door and walked in. "Through the night we checked your vitals and you are stable enough to be transferred to a state correctional facility. They will be here in 20 minutes." He said then walked out. I can't believe this is happening but I deserve what will come next. 

I turned to Jensen and shook him lightly. He woke up and I smiled at him. "20 minutes and I'm gone." I said and he frowned at me. I don't want to let him go, but I have to. It's best for him and me. More him then myself. We talked for the next 15 minutes about everything and nothing, then a nurse walked in. "Let's get you dressed." She said and I nodded. She helped me get dressed and when I walked out of the bathroom, there was two cops waiting for me in the room.

"Claire Snow?" One asked and I nodded. "That's me." I said and the other walked up to me. I put my hands behind my back and waited for him to cuff me. Once he did I turned to face Jensen. "I love you. I'm so sorry." I said and let a tear roll down my cheek. "I love you too." He said and I smiled. They took me out and I was off to the state correctional facility.
