Always sing for you. How
Could I not choose to?
The love I feel,
Can't be replaced. You're all I need and more.Music is like breathing. A sentence I used to say often, always getting the response (from my brother,) "You're such a geek."
My story starts with this; music, not the geek thing. That's just sprinkled throughout...
I was basically born to make music. Like, fate didn't leave me with many options.
See, my parents were both musicians when they were young. My dad met my mom at Juliard, where she attended with her perfect classical music sholership, and where he played dorm room parties with his grunge band of misfits. The two lovebirds were nothing alike! And yet, they fell for each other with one common passion. (Just different styles.)
Two months later me and Cleif came into the picture, (yep, two months. I know, I know... Ever heard of protection parents?)
But hey, despite the fact they barely knew each other, they knew enough. They were certain they wanted to be together always. Even if it meant giving up their dreams (again, glad you had me mom and dad, but what?)
So they got married, moved to another state entirely, (cost of living reasons,) bought a house, went to work, (my dad as a macanic and my mom as a member of an semi knowm orchestra, the Voreshe."
They made a little life together in the tourist town of Moab Utah. Yep, Utah. I know, everything I'm saying baffles the masses!
But Moab was home for me. It's all I've ever known, really. The red dirt and rocks, the over priced restaurants that never failed to let me play my songs in, the towny fill that never leaves you bored and wanting more. Hell, life was perfect for me in that place, surrounded by the mountains and the soft yellow sun that shined even on the coldest of days. I wouldn't have changed it. Wouldn't have chosen too...
Fate is funny, though. It chooses for you, sometimes, in ways you don't expect. Just like I was born to play instruments, I was also born to hurt.
So this tale begins there. In perfect Moab, with perfect friends, and my perfect family.
We'd just graduated, me and my cronies. The parties were on! College was on the horizon, and me and my best friend/twin were going places.
We had our band of two, with songs that could cut deep and then heal wounds just as fast. We had it all figured out. Four years at Utah State, studying back up carreers as music teachers, then onto bigger gigs and than, ultimately, New York City; to make history!
My other best friend, Blossom Lee, and my other friend, Blossom's gorgeous girlfriend Mindy, were going to be friends forever, no matter where our paths led us.
So, life was great, right? But if things continued like I had wanted them too, this story would have been exceptionally lame. Ever think about that? The way we as humans turn our noses up at perfection, and then soak in dirt, tradgidy, conflict and grime?
Well, here's some tragidy for you, dirty humans. Don't worry though, it's not all sad.
I sang for Cleif. Then, I lost him.
So, now I don't sing.
My name is Lauren, and here's my story.
