"Was that all just an act?" Is the first thought Jisung can come up with. And the more he thinks about it, the more it makes sense.
So he tells Jeongin about it. A disbelief look displays on the latter's face, but he tries to not being biased solely because Jisung is his best friend. Although he understands the reason behind such assumption, he's sure Hyunjin isn't that low to hurt someone intentionally twice.
"Why don't you ask him?"
"And say what?" The squirrel grunts. "I can't just go to him and say: hey Hyunjin! I accidentally eavesdrop your conversation with a girl yesterday, so care to explain why you agreed to her invitation?"
The younger sighs. "You can subtly ask him about what he's going to do in the last day of festival."
"... He can easily lie about it."
"Stop assuming, you dummy. Ask."
But of course, being a stubborn squirrel he is, he doesn't comply. In fact, he plans to avoid Hyunjin. Lucky for him, the older is too busy with serving customers to notice it in the first day of festival.
However, on the second day, the taller finally does. Assuming Jisung is probably upset since he's too occupied with his serving tasks, he tries to approach the younger, asking him to have lunch with him or inviting him to Jeongin's basketball club project or Seunglix's council member project when they're free.
But Jisung straight away rejects the offers with every lame excuses he can utter.
"Did I do something wrong?" Hyunjin grunts.
"He hasn't talked to you yet?" Jeongin mentally facepalms.
"Talk about what?"
The younger honestly never have any intention to intervene, but knowing Jisung, he knows he needs to do something.
"I'm actually wondering... Are you planning to ask someone to be your dance partner?"
Hyunjin furrows his eyebrows at the question. "Isn't it obvious? I want to ask Jisung of course, but that dumb squirrel keeps avoiding me on purpose."
"Eh... But I thought you've made a plan with one of the girls from our class."
"Huh? Who?"
Jeongin motions his head to certain girl.
"You mean Lia?" Receiving a nod. "Why would I ask Seungmin's dance partner?"
"Seungmin?! I thought he'd go with Felix. When did he ask her, though? Never knew he'd be this bold." He snickers.
The older laughs. "Actually... it was Lia. Not the other way around."
"Really???"
"Yeah... The other day she asked me if I could help her with asking Seungmin to be her dance partner. So I was like 'of course, I'd love to' and luckily Seungmin agreed."
Then suddenly, the urge to hit Jisung's head at the moment is pretty tempting in Jeongin's mind.
