18 | Questions wont hurt

I woke up the next day actually feeling pretty good, but the thought of my dad leaving for six months to a whole other country!? I'm just confused! He always has to go on work trips and takes such a long time, so then why would we be running out of money??

I started to get up and opened my curtains but when I opened them, Louis was there on his phone with no shirt on. Thank goodness he didn't see me so I closed the curtains again because I knew if I kept staring at his abs, I wouldn't be able to take my eyes off.

It was Friday, and I wanted to wear something comfy especially because it was a rainy day so I put on some grey sweatpants with a white short sleeve oversized graphic tee shirt. Wow. Very specific Madison.

I went downstairs, said the usual good morning to my mom, ate breakfast, and then went outside to wait for Johnny, Noah, and Jayden. I was sitting on the stairs when I noticed that Louis was walking out of his house. He walked over to me and sat next to me.

"Morning" he said as his voice was still a little raspy.

"Good morning"

"hey, about yesterday...I didn't mean to like that picture, I was just-"

I started to laugh at how much he cared about liking a picture that was taken back in 2019.

"Why are you laughing!" He said as he was starting to laugh along with me.

"I just think it's funny, that you care so much. You just liked one of my pictures, it's alright!"

"I know but that's such a creepy thing to do!! Especially since I was kinda staring at you through my window...you just looked, really pretty."

I stared at him and froze for a while. Gosh, this boy is taking over my heart. But pretty?? At night?? In my pj's?? I mean I'll take the complement! I really wanted to kiss him but I couldn't do it. I know I just cant. I was about to say thank you since we were both staring at each other but them Johnny pulled up so I quickly got up and started walking towards the car. I was so nervous. Embarrassed. Clueless. I don't know, but I just had to get myself out of that situation.

"Come on Partridge" I said as I was walking up to the car without looking back. He was still sat at my stairs but now getting up and I just felt really bad.

When we got in the car, Jayden said "TELL ME EVERYTHING!!"

"JAYDEN!! There's nothing to talk about!"

"But you said-" I put my hand over her mouth before she could even finish her sentence.

"I'll tell you later" I said back looking very embarrassed.

Like the usual, we would put on some music and all sing along to them. At this point, we had created a playlist with all songs that everyone agreed with. And Louis drove to school with us everyday now.

When we arrived, we all got out of the car and started heading into the school. We always came right on time so we rushed into our classes before we were late.

As I sat down at my seat, I had Jayden on my left and Louis on my right.

"Now can you tell me!!" Jayden asked.

"Well considering he's right next to me, no" I whispered.

"Please!!"

"How about, you come over after school and we have a sleepover. We haven't had one in a while!"

"YES!!"

"Shhh, quiet down, and we'll get in trouble!"

"Alright alright!"

We continued our school day going to every class. We were all now in lunch, waiting for the bell to ring so we can go to gym. Yes, I still have to do gym. The school thinks that everyone who's in gym right now, is doing a great job and doesn't think we need art.

When the bell rang we headed to gym, put on those nasty clothes, and then started doing laps around the giant gym as we were instructed.

I was jogging around next to Jayden as we were talking and catching up with everything.

Louis' POV:

I was jogging next to Noah and Johnny. I really want to get closer to Madison, so I thought, why not ask a couple questions about her? That's not obvious, right?

"Does Madison have a boyfriend by any chance?"

"Madison?? Of course not!" Noah said as he was laughing.

"Leave them alone Noah! Why do you ask?" Johnny asked.

"No reason."

"Listen, if you wanna get closer with her, just spend as much time as you can with her. She might seem like she hates you, or doesn't even care about you, but Madison has never had a real relationship so count that as her flirting. Sure she's liked boys before but she's too scared to make a move, so she waits for the other to make the move." Johnny explained.

"Thanks"

"Listen, we know you like her. The way you look at her, the way you talk to her, and the way you overall just admire her. Its okay" Noah said.

"Okay, I do. I do like her, a lot. But you guys can't say anything!! To either of the girls! This is just between us, deal?"

"Deal" they both said.

I needed to find a way to get closer to Madison. I really wanted to ask her on a date, but I'm too nervous. I feel like she doesn't like me. I know Johnny said it's her way of 'flirting', but what if he just said that to make me feel better? She's never had a boyfriend before and I haven't really had a girlfriend before. If you wanna count the girl in first grade, then go ahead, but to me, that one doesn't count.

Once we were done with gym class, usually Madison and I walk out of the school together and I wait for her brother to come so she doesn't stand alone.

"hey Mads??"

"Wait what did you call me?"

Oh no. I forgot what the boys had said, and how only her close friends call her Mads. Maybe she didn't consider me a friend yet.

"Oh- I said, Madison"

"I heard you Partridge. Its okay, you can call me Mads, I was just, shocked."

"Anyways, do you want to come over later? To work on our project of course!"

"Wow, since when do you wanna do work??"

I didn't want to do work. I just wanted to be with her.

"But I cant. Sorry Partridge, Jaydens coming over after school for a sleepover."

I was disappointed, but I knew what the next step was. I need to ask for her number. But I cant-

"Oh, that's alright. Can- can I have your number then? For the project!"

"yeah, sure"

She handed me her phone as I handed my phone over to her to exchange numbers.

When we were done we handed back each other's phone and her brother had arrived. I saw Jayden walking towards us too. I'm assuming she's getting a ride from her brother as well.

"I'll see you soon then!" I yelled as she was getting in the car with Jayden. She turned back and waved, giving me a smile too.
