Second Year
"Why the hell did you bring a bloody violin?" Remus asked as he helped me put it above us. He had grown a bit. His head shaved again.
"Because my dad left it for me and my mum told me to start practicing again, so I'm going to practice," I huffed as I sat down next to him. Sirius and James arrived and sat across from us.
"Chess?" James asked. I grinned and pulled it from under my seat.
We set everything up and I put the pawns in my hands. "Choose," he tapped my right wrist. Black. Damn you Jones. He had been practicing. I could tell. But I knew his every move. I beat him in less than 5 minutes. "How do you even do that?" He groaned. "I played against my dad and even he couldn't beat me, and trust me, he's one of the best players out there,"
"Maybe I should go up against your dad then. Then we'll see who's the best," I giggled
"That reminds me. Mum wants you all to come over for holiday,"
"Don't think I can make it, but I'll try," Remus said.
"I'll be there," Peter said
"I know you'll be there. Jones, you coming?"
"I'll have to owl my mum. I'm sure she'll be fine with it,"
"Don't put the board up yet. I'm gonna play you," Sirius quipped
"Be my guest, Black. Be prepared to lose,"
"Oh you wish,"
Needless to say, Sirius sucked. I bet him in three moves. "Seriously though," I started. But the boys started laughing. "That joke isn't even funny anymore. Anyway, how do you mess up that bad. I mean, you're worse than James,"
"Hey!" James shouted
"Pipe down, Potty," I giggled
He rolled his eyes and Remus sniggered. "Remy, you up?" I asked
"Sure," he shrugged. He sat down in front of me and I placed the pawns in my hands. "Choose," he chose my left hand. Black. I tried to read his thoughts, but he blocked me out. He chuckled a bit, but then the wall fell and I could read his thoughts. Sod off Cal.
We played for an hour. I was very and I mean very close to losing. But I caught myself and won when Remus surrendered. "Good game, Cal," we shook hands and stood back up.

"Remus likes you," Alice said as we walked to potions.
"Be quiet," I said as my face flushed
"He does. I can tell by the way he looks at you,"
I sighed and walked into Slughorn's classroom. After class, I went to History of Magic with Remus. "How did you do that?" I asked as we walked down the corridor
"Do what?"
"Block me out?"
"I'm not telling you that," he laughed
"I'll grow your hair back if you tell me," I bribed
"Tempting, but you don't even know a spell for that,"
"Oh really? Do you want to test me?"
"I don't want it to go wrong and have hair growing out of every inch of my body, thank you,"
I huffed and walked further ahead. "Cal, wait for me!" He yelled
The bell rang. Shoot. We were late. "Skipping class?" Filch grumbled
