The next day at breakfast, Remus didn't sit next me. He avoided eye contact with me, and didn't even sit next to me in Arithmancy or Care of Magical Creatures. He completely avoided me.

"Can you tell that stupid guy to stop ignoring me?" I huffed as I sat down on the sofa next to James.

"I've tried to, Jones. I have, but he's Remus. Too stubborn for his own good," He loves you.

It was now Saturday and I couldn't sleep. I looked at the clock. 1 am. I groaned and got up, slipping into a jumper and some sweats before heading into the boys dormitory. Quietly, I got out James' invisibility cloak and exited the room. Before I did, I pulled back the curtains slightly on Remus' bed. He was gone, and I knew exactly where he was. I left their dorm and then the common room.

I put the cloak over myself and head towards the Black Lake. When I get there, I see Remus sitting on a dead log, his elbows resting on his knees, his palms pressed against his eyes. I took the cloak off of me and folded it over my arm and I went to sit next to him.

"Hi, Remmy," I said softly as I sat next to him. He blocked me out. "What's wrong?"

"I'm a fucking monster," he said as his voice broke a bit, making it come out as a whisper. We leaned against me and I wrapped my arms around him.

"You're not a monster, Rem. I swear you're not," I said softly. I'm a freak of nature. Stupid. Ugly.

"Stop that," I said sternly as I pulled away and put my hands on his shoulders. "You are not a monster. You are not a freak. You are Remus John motherfucking Lupin. You are my best friend. You are the sweetest asshole there is, do you hear me?" I cupped his face, but he pushed my hands away and stood up.

"Don't you get it!? I can't be around you!" He shouted.

"Why?" I asked calmly

"Because- because I'm not good,"

"Oh, Remus," I whispered and stood up. He backed away from me. "Stop it," I said sternly.

"Get the fuck away from me," he spat

"What?"

"Can't you see?! I don't want to be your fucking friend, but you keep pushing yourself on to me. It's exhausting!"

"You don't mean that," I said with tears forming in my eyes

"Yes I do," I heard his voice quiver as he spoke. Thought I couldn't see him very well, I knew he was crying.

"Remus," I started and tried to take his hand, but he pushed me back, making me fall down. All of a sudden, he was tackled to the ground by a dog. Sirius. He turned into his human form when Remus was on the ground. I stood up, and felt somebody wrap their arms around me.

"It's me, Jones, it's me," James' voice spoke. Remus and Siris were fighting, rolling around on the grass. Remus flipped them over and started punching Sirius repeatedly.

"Stop!" I screamed. "Stop it, Remus!" Tears were streaming down my face. "James, do something!"

James ran up to Remus and ripped him off of Sirius. He pinned him to the ground and he tried to get out of Sirius' grasp, but failed. Once he calmed down, James got off of Remus and helped him and Sirius up. Remus was crying, Sirius' face had cuts on it and he had a broken nose.

"What the hell is wrong with you two!?" I shouted

"What do you mean?!" Sirius said. "He pushed you!"

"That doesn't give you an excuse to beat the shit out of him! I can handle myself, Sirius!"

"Clearly," he mumbled.
