We continued to walk on for some time until we eventually reached my house again and as soon as I had said goodbye to Accalia, I made my way inside of the house and up to my room, where I immediately proceeded to slump down onto the bed. I then soon fell asleep.

When I awoke the next morning, I knew at once that there was an important day ahead of me because it was  Fenn's birthday party, and Accalia had invited me to attend with her.

I let my father know about this arrangement at breakfast time and to my pleasant surprise, he seemed okay with it.

"Just don't stay out too late," he told me.

"I won't," I promised.

The rest of the day was spent with me drawing, reading and studying as much as possible, because even though I was a wolf, now, I knew that I couldn't shirk my duties.

Accalia nor Kate would make that possible for me any time soon, either.

As soon as the full moon became visible once again, hidden behind clouds which gave it a slightly eerie appearance, I knew that it was time for me to get ready for the party.

I swiftly pulled on a dark blue dress and then made my way down the stairs and out the door.

Accalia was seated in a car, which belonged to her father.

"He's letting me drive," she told me, through the window.

As soon as I sat down in the car, I turned to Accalia with a slight expression of curiosity.

"Should I be concerned?" I asked her.

Accalia looked a little offended, but she soon released a gentle laugh which told me that I hadn't wounded her too badly.

"No, I don't think so. I'm not that bad of a driver," she told me, as she began to set off down the dark road.

Fortunately, we arrived at Accalia's house in one piece, and I was immediately taken aback by how beautiful the Winters' home was.

We soon made our way inside and itno the living room, where Fenn had gathered with a group of his friends from high school.

"I still don't understand how you grew so much, in such a short span of time, dude," one of them spoke.

"Maybe he's on steroids," another one of the friends added, as they ruffled Fenn's hair, causing Fenn to appear a little unamused.

Nevertheless, he chuckled it off.

His eyes soon found mine and he greeted me with a pleasant smile.

"Happy birthday, Fenn," I told him with a friendly expression.

"Thank you, Ophelia," he said.

The other boys looked at me with some interest.

"Hi, Ophelia. These are my friends, Leon and Ryder," he informed me. Leon was the first one that had spoken, Ryder was the latter.  Fenn then turned back to his friends to explain who I was. "Leon, Ryder, this is Ophelia, she's my sister's girlf-" he began to say, but Accalia swiftly moved closer and elbowed him.

I felt my cheeks flush and I could tell that Accalia sensed my anxieties, because she soon led me away from the three boys and out into the night air on the balcony.

"It was feeling a little warm in there, if I'm honest," Accalia told me, as her eyes glanced up at the stars.

"I mean...did your brother annoy you when he said that?" I asked her. I blurted out the first stupid question that entered my mind.

Accalia turned to me and her jaw twitched slightly.

"No, he didn't," she said.

"Would it be so bad if I did happen to be your girlfriend?" I asked her, surprised by my confidence.

Accalia considered the question only for a second before she gave a shake of her head in response to it.

"No, it honestly wouldn't be. You already know how deeply I care about you, Ophelia. And aside from that...I feel as though you're one of the only people that understands me as much as I always try to understand other people," she said.

"I can't claim to be an expert," I replied simply.

Her eyes flickered with amusement.

"But that's just the thing, you don't have to be. You try to get me and that means so, so much to me, I can't even begin to tell you," she said.

I then reached out to take her hand in mine.

"I think you just did," I told her, with a subtle wink.

It was Accalia's turn to blush.

"After this party, I should study," she said.

I dropped her hand, sensing that she wanted to change the subject again.

"But right now, I think we should go in there and help my dad out with Fenn's birthday party. I believe there's cake," she informed me and my stomach rumbled contentedly.

"Well, we better not keep him waiting then," I said and Accalia released a soft laugh in response to my statement.

The two of us made our way back into the house and Accalia led me into a rather modern indigo blue and white tiled kitchen, where we found her father setting up the candles on Fenn's birthday cake. Chocolate. One of the best flavours, of course.

We helped him set up the sixteen candles and then we made our way out into the living room, where we sang to him along with his two best friends, and Fenn pressed his hands to his face with a little embarrassment, but he soon managed to laugh it off, as he went to blow out the candles.

I wondered if he wished for anything.

I knew that, if it was my birthday, I would have wished for something.

Luka looked around at us and smiled, as he wished Fenn a happy birthday, but he soon headed off on his own.

I decided to go and talk to him.

"Luka...is everything alright?" I asked him, as I joined him in the kitchen again.

He turned to me with a warmth in his gaze and responded merely with a nod.

Nevertheless, I could tell that there was more on his mind than he was letting me in on.
