"I suppose I'm going to have to stop hunting," my father said, when we returned inside the Winters' house.
Luka and Accalia's eyes widened with some alarm and they leant forwards in their chairs a little.
"Uh, he's just joking," I said quickly.
They relaxed a little in their seats, then.
My dad took another sip of black coffee, as he continued to unwind from the shock of what he had just witnessed.
His own daughter wasn't so much just a daughter anymore, that was for certain.
"Landscaping is much better," he said decisively.
I smiled at that, glad that he seemed to be enjoying his new job.
"The city's busy...so I think I'm going to try to stick to a quieter town, even when I go to university. That means that if I do want to be a wolf, then I can be one without worrying about being sighted," I said, "Not that I'm thinking about becoming a wolf at university. Ever," I continued swiftly, when a perturbed expression became present on my father's face.
"I prefer quieter towns, too. Besides, we'll be together," Accalia said, with a kind smile in my direction.
My father looked between the two of us and seemed a little reassured by the fact that I wasn't in this all alone.
His eyes then scanned the room and he looked as though he wanted to change the subject.
"I'm glad you'll have eachother," he said kindly, "You have a really wonderful home, sir," he told Luka, who looked at him with appreciation.
"Thank you," Luka replied.
I took a moment to think on what I had said about university. I really did believe that going to one in a rural or less-crowded area was going to be the best bet for me. It wouldn't be easy, of course, but it meant that I wouldn't have to worry so much about my secret getting uncovered.
As I looked around the room, my eyes settled on a goldfish bowl on the table nearby. An orange fish bobbed along in the water, blowing bubbles.
"When did you get that?" I whispered to Accalia.
"Naomi has been bugging me to get one for ages," she explained.
I felt the corner of my lips twitch upwards slightly. That sounded like Naomi.
"I better get home. Will you be able to get a lift back?" my dad asked and his eyes flashed with genuine compassion. We were still on good terms, thankfully.
"I'll drive her back home," Accalia said kindly.
My father then stood up and reached out to bring me into a hug.
I hugged him back for a moment.
He then let me go, smiled at me and walked out of the house and into the cool night air.
Luka went to check on Fenn, so Accalia turned back to me.
"That was insane," she said.
"I know," I replied.
"Everything changes," she added.
"That it does," I said, "I just really hope he doesn't hate me, now."
Accalia gave a shake of her head, as her eyes shone with sympathy.
"Ophelia, trust me, that could never happen. Your father loves you, no matter what," she said.
"My whole life I thought I had to worry about coming out...turns out there's bigger things out there," I said.
Accalia chuckled at that statement.
"There certainly are," she said. "Hey, I wanted to talk to you about something."
I felt my eyebrows lift a little then, in interest.
"I've decided on a name for the tribe. I think I'm going to call us the Lykos Circle," she said proudly, "Too much?" she asked.
I shook my head in answer.
"Not at all. I love it," I said, with a genuine smile.
"My dad liked it too, so I'm glad you do," she said, "You're the second person to know."
"Because I'm that important," I replied, with a playful wink.
"That's just the thing, you really are," she assured me.
Luka soon entered the living room and Accalia's ears immediately pricked up upon his entrance.
"What's going on?" she asked, "Is he alright?"
"Ask him yourself," Fenn said, "They checked my blood sample. The virus is completely gone."
"Yes!" Accalia said in happiness, as she rushed over to Fenn to wrap her arms around him. "I'm so relieved," she said.
We then made our way to Naomi's room to find that Yara and Uziel were here looking over her, as could be expected. They really were good parents.
"Here, Yara," Luka said, as he passed Yara some of the medicine.
Naomi looked at it with slight disgust for a moment, but managed to drink it down.
She appeared calm after she had taken it, if a little moody.
"That was disgusting," she said, "But I hope I'll be better soon."
Yara turned to meet Luka's gaze.
"We'll keep an eye on her, but she should be fine, if Fenn's results are anything to go by," he said.
"I'm tired but I think I'll be okay," Naomi said, nestling in to Yara.
Yara smiled, as she wrapped an arm around her daughter.
Fenn, Accalia and I were soon able to leave the room, after Luka had made sure that Naomi had enough medicine.
We then headed a little further down the hall and into the main living room again, but Luka said he was going to sleep, which left only three.
Fenn immediately booted up his laptop and started work on his game again, while Accalia's eyes fluttered closed, as she sat in her chair.
I had a feeling that she would be falling asleep, soon. That was probably because I was exhausted myself.
"I know that gaming and things might not make me popular, but I've never valued popularity," Fenn said, as he looked towards me.
"I respect that," I said.
He smiled.
"What I do value is intelligence, knowledge and kindness," he said, "I've always been a geek. Accalia and Uma have made me aware of that much, but Uma's the only one that actually teases me about it," he added.
"She teases everyone. I think what you're doing is awesome, Fenn," I told him with a friendly smile.
