On Monday morning Chloe walked into her grandfather's room before leaving for school. She looked both ways in the hall before she sat down on a chair next to his bed.

"Good morning grandpa." She smiled sadly as she took in the man's motionless figure. She looked at his scar on his chest from the surgery, visible under his pajamas. She touched it lightly and sighed. Come back to me, please.

"What are you doing?" Ms. Bourgeois asked as she entered the room. Chloe turned around to look at her grandmother.

"Oh... Oh, I was just saying good morning." She told her startled. The woman smiled. Chloe turned her attention back to her grandfather and took his hand in hers, drawing invisible circles against his palm with the tip of her thumb.

"Your breakfast is ready." Ms. Bourgeois announced and the girl nodded shortly.

"I'm glad to be here, Grams." Chloe finally looked up at the older woman.

"Don't want to be late on your first day." Her grandma simply told her and left the room. Chloe blinked, gave her grandfather's hand a final stroke, and got up.

When she walked into the kitchen she found a plate with scrambled eggs on the table.

"You know, I don't usually eat in the morning Grams. I appreciate the thought and all, but my eyes are barely propped open by noon. Just a coffee fix and I'm set."

Ms. Bourgeois smiled as she placed a glass of orange juice next to the plate.

"Well, I'll remember that in the future." She told the blonde teenager. Chloe took a sip from her juice.

"So tell me about this Luka guy next door. He looks so different. He used to be kinda short and compact." Chloe laughed to herself.

"You stay away, that boy is trouble." Ms. Bourgeois answered her. Weird, Chloe thought, grandpa had always been fond of those kids, he kept talking about them when I was younger.

"Aren't they all?" Chloe started saying but she paused.

"Well, um.. what about the girl who lives down the street... Mari, I think her name is?" She went on and her grandma shook her head.

"That girl from down the street has been crawling into the window of that boy next door for the past ten years. Neither goes to church, I believe they're what you call the wrong element." Ms. Bourgeois stated and Chloe snorted. Oh well, that explains a lot, Chloe told herself.

"Riiight... Anyway, I should be going. Don't wanna miss a day of fun at a new school where I know no one, right?" She said sarcastically as she picked her bag from the ground. Ms. Bourgeois blinked as Chloe went out the door.

"3 aaand.. 1" Chloe whispered to herself as she put on the code of her locker. She gasped in pride as the blue, metallic door popped open with a creak.

Chloe started shoving her books and notebooks inside, only leaving the ones she needed for the first period in her backpack. She checked her schedule for the tenth time and looked around nervously.

"Hi, I'm Lila Rossi." A voice startled Chloe and she jumped. When she turned around, a tall girl with straight, brown locks and bangs smiled sweetly at her. A little bit too sweetly.

"Uh, I'm Chloe?" It came out more like a question and Lila laughed. Who the hell is that girl? Barbies failed replica?

"From New York. I know. How's your grandfather? He has us all worried. He's still on the prayer list at church, you party?" She rambled and Chloe frowned, mostly at the last part.

"E-Excuse me?"

"Par-ty?" Lila repeated with an attitude. Wow, she sure is moody.

"Uh, party as in do I like to have a good time, or party as in drink and use drugs?" She joked.

"It's objective." Lila shrugged.

"I like to have a good time. Substance free." Lila raised an eyebrow and then smiled.

"Okay then. It was nice meeting you!" the brunette waved at Chloe as she walked down the hallway at a fast pace.

Chloe had never been this confused by a human being in her life. She returned to fixing her locker a little dazed. As she started walking down the hallway herself, Luka caught up to her.

"Hey! How's it going?" He smiled down at her. She sighed.

"I could really use a cigarette." She joked, forgetting who she was talking to.

"You smoke?" Luka breathed surprised.

"Uh, I quit. I'm just a little.. tense." She admitted and he chuckled.

"Well, you're hiding it well."

"I have a great denial system."

"Yeah, it's the first day, we're all a little tense. It'll get easier."

"Good."

Luka fiddled with the stripes of his backpack, desperately searching for another topic.

"So, how's your schedule? They screwed up mine." He ended up asking. She brought her own schedule out and waved it in the air dramatically. He laughed.

"Who do you have the first period?"

"Um...Damocles. Biology." She frowned at the paper in her hands and then looked up at the blue-haired boy.

"I was just heading that way!"

"Were you, now?" She asked smiling.

"Aah, miss Dupain-Cheng, such displeasure to run into you this fine morning." Adrien bowed before Marinette and she scoffed.

"What do you want? Don't you have anyone else to bother?" She asked harshly.

"You're wounding my precious feelings with that sharpness of yours. Would consider taking pity on me, just for today, your Highness?" He continued teasing her and she groaned.

"Ugh! Why do I even bother?" She asked as she stormed into a classroom, Adrien sniggering as he walked towards another.

Marinette sat down on the front row and placed her books on the desk in front of her. She sighed. This was gonna be a good year, her year. Nothing could bring her down.

Suddenly Chloe walked into biology. She looked around and spotted Marinette. The latter also noticed and shrugged down in her seat, trying to avoid her. Chloe took a deep breath and walked over.

"Would you mind if I..?" She trailed off, pointing to the chair next to Marinette's. The raven-haired girl didn't look up.

"No, it's fine." She responded.

"I was hoping we'd have a class together," Chloe admitted and Marinette turned to look at her. She faked a smile and tapped her fingers against the wooden surface of the desk.

"Here we are."
