Marked number 3 since it's after all only my own shipping with me and Vale. This was our New Years, last night, and I remeber every detail exactly as it was. Please don't say anything bad about this one since it is my life after all; better yet, don't say anything at all on this one.

My New Years

I stood outside the crime scene displayed before me. Police officers ran about on the grounds, questioning the witnesses gathered before us, one of them being the suspect they needed, the one who killed the poor lady in her own apartment just minutes before.

I wasn't supposed to be there... I was supposed to be home, spending time with Vale rather than solving a pathetic excuse for the 'perfect crime'. But as usual, they needed their top officer there, the head detective working the case. Of course those idiots didn't know I had someone I love waiting for me back home, they couldn't know... if they had, I would've been cost from this job.

Normally if that happened, I would become a wandering detective once more, but since I met Vale, I know that can't be me anymore. But, I guess the last few days I've been thinking different since Vale had been gone for more than he said; ever since Christmas Eve. He only got home just last night and I've been avoiding the sore subject ever since. Concidering Christmas Day was my birthday.

"Detective, your thoughts?" I looked up slightly, breaking from my thoughts, to see a lower class police officer in front of me and sighed looking once more to our witnesses, observing them intently.

The first was the apartment manager, he had been the one to discover the body of the poor women, but I knew he had nothing to do with this case other than having been the one running this pathetic building. The only thing he was guilty of was spying on the lady who lived next door.

The second was the lady next door, conveniently the only other one on the floor of the apartment, but she was asleep at the time, the spy tape that the manager put in was proof of that.

The third witness was another man, the women's wife, younger than the manager and he reeked of being guilty. He couldn't keep still, his hands were never still, his left eye twitched nervously as he was questioned and he was slightly sweaty, not to mention he also had a bit of blood on his shoes and pants that proved he was guilty of it.

My guess was that he and the wife got into a bit of a quarrel, most likely over a divorce, and he got pretty upset, causing him to come over here minutes earlier and finish the job. The reason I say divorce was because he continuously fiddled with his ring, torn between taking it off or leaving it on.

"The husband did it." I sighed, looking away. I didn't exactly like my job, but it was only because of stuff like this. "The evidence you need is in his words, not to mention on his pants. You'll also most likely find divorce papers either in his house or the girls apartment." I added and he looked bewildered before nodding and running back to the others.

Doing stuff like this always makes me wonder what happens with couples now a ‘days... they never really work all that well, which makes me think what will happen with me and Vale. It makes me think if he's actually happy with me... or what I do... or anything of the sorts.

"What's a pretty little detective like you frowning about?" I had, admittedly, jumped at feeling arms around me but calmed down, blushing slightly, as I heard the voice, smiling to clear up the frown.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I huffed slightly, leaning into Vale's chest, content, almost forgetting about the others around us as well as my thoughts.

"Oh please. I've known you long enough to know that you do indeed know what I'm talking about," he paused, smiling deviously, "Head Detective of the LIPD, Zero Ryoshi."
