Big chapter, guys! I'd love your feedback with this one to let me know if it's too much!
It felt beyond anti-climatic for things to taper off after such a dramatic change of pace, but they did. Everyone was geared up for fight after fight with the introduction of the roars of the dawn, but literally nothing happened after that.
They left with the head of a demon, which was defeated pretty quickly there-after. Gowther gave the most bare bones explanation of what happened to (Y/N) (She seemed interesting, so I experimented with her magic. Why are you giving me such looks? She's safe now), And two things happened.
Hagakure distanced herself from Gowther and Dabi stormed out.
Things really hadn't changed since then, three months later.
Dabi was MIA still, which was worrisome in this world, with how unpredictable everything could be, but they really couldn't do anything about it because somehow he had disappeared without a single trace.
Meliodas was all for going after the patchwork quilt, but Ban stopped him each time, shaking his head and muttering something about how the idiot didn't want to be found, so why put in the effort. Either he'd die, or they'd see him again at some point, so who cared.
Harsh? Yeah, but they had a country to save, they couldn't waste time on him right now.
Hagakure... Well, everyone thought she had just barricaded herself in her room for several days, but it took Diane breaking in a window and Elizabeth following her to realize that the invisible girl was gone too. That was a harder of a hit than Dabi leaving was, especially for the two girls, who had formed a really close bond with Hagakure, but they couldn't do much but hope she was with Dabi.
It wasn't much of a hope, but it was all they had, especially right now when they had to keep on searching for the rest of the sins.
For them, life continued on as normal, they would move from place to place, keeping an ear out for word on the two sins they had left to find. For the others?
"Why the fuck are we here, Dabi?" Hagakure's complaint could be heard far and wide as the pair kept walking. To be fair to her, it was a valid complaint, as Dabi had decided to start leading them through the heart of a marsh, meaning there were bugs everywhere, soupy mud was encroaching at their hips, and everything was looking at them like a potential meal.
Truly, it was the most distasteful of situations, and Hagakure had not signed up for this. Why the fuck were they out here when there was literally no one to ask directions, and not a single clue about (Y/N) to be found?!
Dabi, ever the patient man, was chewing desperately in his lip, as though that would stop the girl behind him from asking any more questions. "I know what I'm doing, Hagakure."
"Do you? Because from where I'm standing, it sure as shit doesn't look like it."
Ooh, if only his conscience wasn't stopping him from frying this whole damn place. "Well I do. And where the fuck did this language come from? Were you trying to act all innocent in front of the sins?"
Valid point, ever since the two had left the group, Hagakure had changed slightly and was swearing enough to even make a sailor blush. It didn't phase Dabi, but still... It was odd.
"Who are you, my mom?"
Ah yes, the pinnacle of maturity, Dabi rolled his eyes and kept chewing on his lip until the coppery taste of blood filled his mouth.
Hagakure almost fell, again, and continued swearing. Dabi should be glad she was censoring herself, everything running through her head was much worse thanks to this stupid fucking place. "And don't think I didn't notice that subject change!" She barked out, her breath labored, "We're lost, aren't we?"
