After picking up my luggage from the conveyor belt and leaving the airport, I opened google maps to check how far it was from here. It was a twenty-minute drive to the college from the airport. I had to call up the university and they sent their second years to pick us up.

I sat on the bench and waited for the car. As I was scrolling through my DM's, a car honked at me. Startled I dropped my Starbucks and stained my shoes.

A blond-haired guy jumped out from the passenger seat of the black Porsche.

"Hi, I'm Ryan," he held out his hand.

I scowled at him and didn't shake it. "You made me spill my coffee," I told him highly annoyed.

"Nope that wasn't me that was Austin Wilson sitting in the driver's seat. He was the one who honked," I glanced at the driver's seat and saw a guy looking at me. He had longish brown hair and grey eyes. He had a Greek nose and thick eyebrows. He was quite good looking, and I immediately knew that he must be popular in school.

"Anyways are you the new student at the Melbourne law university?" he asked.

"Duh," I pointed at my badge and got inside the car. Ryan loaded my suitcase into the boot. Then he sat down, wore his seat belt then we were off to the campus.

"I'm Austin Wilson second year at Melbourne University and captain of the swim team," Austin said a while later breaking the awkward silence in the car.

"I'm Heather Brown, you made me spill my latte," I replied.

"Okay Heather Brown you made me spill my latte, is there anything else you do?" he asked appraisingly.

"I'm an artist," I told him, as he laughed and rolled his eyes.

"What? Do you look down on talent," I asked him irritated once again by this arrogant stranger.

"No no, no offense to you," he said, "It's just that I find artists, let's say, interesting. He told me smirking.

''Whatever,'' I scoffed and wore my earphones and attempted to ignore him as politely as possible.

After about twenty minutes, Ryan tapped my shoulder and I looked outside. I could see a huge, red, brick building surrounded by vast lawns that circled the college. Marble statues and bridges made the place look like a five star resort. It was even better than the pictures and for a second I felt like I was in a dream.

Austin pulled over in the parking and we got out of the car as an assistant in white gloves took out my suitcase and got it sent directly to my dormitory. I was going to be living in the college dorms which I was going to share with three other girls who I hadn't met yet.

I grabbed my bag and was just about to go inside when I turned around. "Thank you, Austin, for bringing me here," I told him. He turned around and smiled then went back to talking to some blonde who was standing next to him.

I walked inside the building and went to the front desk. A lady sat there in white uniform, "Good evening," I said, "I'm Heather Brown, I'm a new student. Could you let me know my dorm assignment?"

"Heather Brown....Heather Br- okay you're in room number 12 sixth floor," she told me. "Just go right take the elevator and it's another right from there. It'll be the sixth door to the left." She told me.

"Thank you," I told her then proceeded to take the elevator.

Finally, I reached my room. I could hear loud music from the inside. I opened the door and went inside and audibly gasped in surprise

Firstly the room was too small for four people. With all the beds and dressers and wardrobes, there was barely any room to walk. Even that was cluttered with personalized drawers dividers and what not. The little space that was supposed to be mine was also occupied by hangers and lamps.

If all of this was not bad enough, my roommates had left their dirty clothes all around and were jumping on the beds, Correction; my bed.

They turned around to look at me. The first one was a tall girl with red hair and freckles and her tag read Margaret. Then there Ava, a short blonde girl with chin length hair and deep blue eyes and finally there was Olivia who had waist length brown hair that were pin straight and deep hazel eyes.

They turned around and stared at me then quickly introduced themselves.

"I'm Heather, and I really need you to get off my bed and would appreciate it if you didn't climb on it again, at least not with your shoes on," I told them dryly.

They gave me a long look then got off my bed muttering stuff to each other. I felt like i didn't start well enough so I tried again.

"I'm from California, where are you from?" I asked.

"We're all from Canberra, same neighborhood," Ava replied disinterestedly.

"So you must be knowing each other?" I asked again attempting to be amiable.

"Obviously, that is why we applied for the same dorm, we're best friends." Olivia replied scrunching up her nose as if I was an intruder who had walked in uninvited. That's when I realized that these people had known each other for far too long and I would always be a misfit to them no matter what. I sighed and began to unpack my suitcase. Out of the corner of my eye I saw them nudging each other and giggling but I had no idea what it was about.

I took out all my clothes and folded them then moved towards the cupboard to open it. As I reached for the handle and tugged it open, I saw a movement and something black moved towards me. It was a mouse.

"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH" I shrieked and jumped on top of my bed. I was terrified of mice.

That's when I saw them spitefully laughing and pointing at me. I thought you didn't like people jumping on your bed Heather?" Margaret scoffed at me, "But I guess you change your colors pretty, fast don't you? Maybe we should put a chameleon in there next time," she snickered.

I couldn't believe someone could actually do something like that. Hot tears flooded my eyes and before I could think anything else I ran out of the room and banged into someone.

"Careful Brown," Austin winced rubbing his chest as i rubbed my head, "You probably bruised me for a lifetime,"

"I'm sorry," I whispered, and before I could help it a sob escaped my throat.

"Are you crying Brown?" he asked and I thought I heard concern in his voice.

"No," I replied abruptly and stood up, "I should go," I told him and walked away before he could say anything else."
