I pulled on my jacket as I walked the streets. It was still light so not time to work nor time to sleep. I had lived on the streets since I was 15. It had been 5years and I was doing okay. I had a bag of my belongings slung on my back as I walked. The weather wasn’t the best and my clothes were soaked through. My shoes on my feet barely kept my feet dry; however they were still shoes and one pair of the two pairs I owned. One pair for work the other for just general living in. “Stay away from her son! She doesn’t look clean!” A woman pulled a small child onto the road just to avoid me like I was going to attack them or something. The sad thing about being me was you had people who wouldn’t go near me and then when I was ‘working’ you had people who were all over me.

I sighed as I made my way into a public toilet. I pulled my bag up and started emptying it. It was my clothes for the night. A black vest top with a leather skirt and black heels. I slipped into a cubicle pulling on my clothes and placing my wet and smelly clothes back into my bag ready for the morning. I took my dark blonde hair out from the elastic band that I had it tied in and let it flow down below my shoulders. It was slightly curled from being tied up in a bun in the rain. It was the only way to style my hair. I dabbed on a little but lip gloss and freshened myself up a bit before heading out for the night.

I knew the night was going to be hard. It was a Friday and everyone was out on a Friday you either had loads of service or known depending on the area you got. You see there were a lot of us. There wasn’t just me living on the streets, selling myself for as little as just £10. Hundreds of homeless in the area I lived in turned to prostitution. It was the only way. Some nights we would earn up to £200 or as little as £5. We were grateful for any bit of cash we got. Not many people helped or even offered us their spare change when they saw us on streets. Most would tut in disgust at one look at us. People forgot we were humans. We hurt just like someone who lives in a home does. We have a heart. Of course I would like to wash but I don’t have the place to do so. Public toilets are the cleanest place we get to wash. Even then you sometimes have to pay 20pence or get refused entry.

I managed to grab the best spot in Town. Just at the end of the street from one of the busiest nightclubs. It was pretty posh so most men who left there paid well. I straightened my skirt as I leaned against the wall trying to make myself look sexy. I was probably failing but it seemed to be going good from the looks half of the drunken men were giving me. Then I saw him. The fat ass rich guy who owned the club. Little to everyone’s knowledge he was everyone’s best and favourite customer. He paid well. He was a creep. He was in his 60’s or well nearing his 60’s. He sleazed over every girl who walked out of the club. He licked his lips as he made his way over to me. I shivered thinking about what was about to happen. I hated doing what I did but I needed to do it. He walked up to me. “How much?” He mumbled in my ear as he licked his lips. I felt sick in my stomach, like I was about to throw up at any moment. “How much do you want me for?” I asked fluttering my eyelashes at him. He smirked leaning closer to me. “I’ll give you £100.” He grunted in my ear pulling me along the street to his car. Classy I thought to myself as he opened the door and I climbed in. His car was tiny. It was one of those fancy sport cars and they aren’t known for their massive space. His hands snaked all over my body pulling off each piece of clothing like it was nothing. It meant nothing to him but to me it was everything. The only shelter I had some nights. His lips and hands covered my body I just tried my best to pretend he was some celebrity who was rich and famous and super good looking. If I lived in reality I wouldn’t be able to go through with what I did.
