I wake up and I'm in my bed at the Trost barracks. Who brought me here? Probably Mikasa did. I exhale loudly and sit up. I'm still wearing my normal clothes from yesterday so I need to change into my uniform.
Today the southern cadet corps of the 104th have to help the garrison with cleaning the mounted cannons and doing patrols around the city. I was set for doing the patrols in my squad that had only three people including me. Jean and a boy named Floch and I are in the 41th cadets squad.
I finish the buckles on my legs and walk out of my room and down the corridor towards the mess hall for breakfast. The smell of freshly cooked food wafting me in the nose.
I quickened my pace and arrived at the hall and saw Marco and Jean sitting at a table alone. I went over to the serving table and grabbed my breakfast and a cup of tea. I then walked over to the table Marco and Jean were sitting at and placed my food and drink on an empty space next to Marco.
"G'morning Ezlyn, I saw Mikasa take you to you're room last night. Did you fall asleep mid conversation or something? Or did the problem child's blethering about titans make you exhausted?" Jean sneers.
"Be careful what you say to me, unless you wanna be regrouped in the stables." I joke back. He pouts and goes back to his food. "Good morning Marco. How was last night?"
"Good morning Ezlyn, yes I had fun last night, congrats on being top of our class by the way." Marco reply's with one of his sun shiny smiles.
"Thanks, congrats to you too, for making it into top ten." I add, repaying him with an equal smile.
Marco chuckles and I take a sip of my tea.
For the three years I've known Jean and Marco, I've learnt loads of things about them and they've learnt loads about me. Marco, Jean and I are best friends and they are very close to me, almost like family. If I was to lose one of them, I don't know what I'd do with myself.
"Ezlyn, I'll meet you out in the courtyard and I'll go get Floch as well." Jean says, standing up.
"Okay, Jean-boy." I tease, flashing a smirk.
"Ezlyn! I told you to forget about that!" Jean shouts, slamming his hands down on the table.
Marco and I burst out laughing at the memory of Jeans mother coming into the mess hall looking for Jean by saying 'Has anyone seen my Jean-boy.'. But Jean ended up shouting at her to leave, I felt bad for her.
Jean scoffs and leaves the room. I finish my breakfast and tea and get up to leave. "Bye Marco." I say, giving him a hug.
He returns the hug. "Bye Bye, Ezlyn."
I release him from my hug and ruffle his hair a bit and leave the room.I make my way along the long corridor and down a few staircases towards the courtyard. Jean and Floch are standing waiting for me in the middle of the yard with three horses.
"Hey, Ezlyn." Floch smiles turning around to face me. "Here's you're new horse, it doesn't have a name so you can give him one."I take the lead rope in hand and look at the palomino thoroughbred. It had shiny green eyes and a cream coloured mane and tail.
"Hmm, what about..." I had no clue what to call it. Joey? No. Acer? No. Storm? No it doesn't suit. I'll need some time to think.
