"Ezlyn!" I heard someone shout. "Ezlyn, open your eyes!" I heard them shout again.
I can't open them though, that's the thing.
"Ezlyn! Answer me! Ezlyn!" The voice shouts again.
"Hey, what're you doing?!" A familiar voice yells.
"Jean! Ezlyn is under this!" The other voice yells.
Wait, Jean as in Jean Kirschtein? My best friend... I need to apologise, god damn-it!
"Huh?! Shouldn't she have transformed already?" Jean stammers.
"I don't think she got the chance to. Annie crushed her before she got to I think, she could use her powers fine unlike Eren, I sent him to Hanji's squad!" Armin shout.
"What? Why isn't he here helping get her out then?!" Jean asks.
"Because I sent him before she got crushed. But. At any rate, we have to save her, her power is valuble. Jean! Give me a hand!" I felt a heavy weight get lifted off my back, letting me breath normally.
"She never got the chance..." Jean mutters. I heard footsteps then someones hand sat on my cheek. "Ezlyn, don't you screw with me! I said we'd be counting on you and Eren someday, remember?! You and Eren, of all people, are entrusted with the world, mankind and our lives, and this is what we get for that?! Marco... Marco, you know... He didn't..." I felt my eyelids flicker open, the bright light cast from the sun.
Marco... huh.
There was another loud bang and crumbling. There was an immence pain all over my body and I was flipped onto my back. There was also an incredibly, large pain, skewering into my chest.
"Ezlyn..."
"It's no good, we need to do something about her first!" Jean shouts.
"Ezlyn. There's something I said to Jean before." Armin says. I pry open one of my eyes to look at him. "people who are unable to abandon anything, will fail to bring out any change. If it's required to overcome monsters, one must toss aside their humanity. I'm sure Annie is capable of that. I don't know what she's doing it for. Regardless... those who can do so are victorious!" He stands up and runs off.
My eyes fall shut again, and I'm left to fall into a black eternity. I felt hands caressing my cheeks, so I opened my eyes. I was standing up-right and Marco was holding my face.
"Ezlyn, you need to wake up, this isn't your time to die." He says softly, rubbing my cheek with his thumb.
I look up at him and grab his wrist. His arm was solid. "M-Marco?" I stutter. He places a finger on my lip.
"Shhh, Promise me something. I want you to live your life without fear or reget, that's what'll make you stronger than you are now. In this world we are in, I want you to fling away all of your emotions until you see what you want most, what do you want to see?" He asks me.
I choke back my tears. "T-The ocean, a salt-water lake so big you can't get all the salt out of it ever." I cry. I wrap my arms round him, to make sure this is real.
"Okay then, promise me," He takes hold of my head and makes me look him in the eye. "Promise me, you will not cry ever until you see the ocean. You will fling aside your humanity during fights, and believe in your own power, okay?" He finishes, smiling softly.
My eyes begin to water even more. "Yes, I promise you!" I wail, burying my face into his chest. He strokes my hair.
"Good..." He whispers peacefully.
