for the next five days they always met on the roof. miya would come sometimes as well but he thought it would be best to leave some of the time with just them.
so today, it was just them two and langa spent a lot of times falling while reki spent the time giving him tips.
it's now the first day of may and it is hotter than ever. you'd figure that heat wouldn't really bother your lungs as much as the cold weather would, but it affected reki just as much.
so while langa was skating reki was coughing. reki was coughing into his elbow and langa noticed so he cruised over to him.
"hey, you okay?" langa asked as he set one foot on the floor as he approached reki.
"yeah." reki said as he opened his fanny pack and looked at his schedule. "what time is it?" langa said and langa took out his phone that he had in his back pocket.
"it's two fifty nine-, no wait, it's three now it just changed." langa said and showed the phone to reki.
reki nodded and folded his schedule back into his pack and got one of his medication bottles and tilted the bottle into his hand so a few fell out.
"can i have some of your water?" reki asked and langa nodded so he got off the board and jogged to his water bottle that was placed on the floor near the door.
langa grabbed it and jogged back to reki. as langa was nearing, reki threw the pills in his mouth and langa handed him the water bottle.
reki uncapped the bottle and drank some water, downing the pills. he groaned as he swallowed them and capped the bottle giving it back to langa.
"thanks. just the humidity doesn't help." reki said as he patted his chest and followed langa who was walking back to the door to set his water bottle and phone down.
"want to take a break?" langa asked and reki scoffed.
"from what? standing. no i'm good." reki said with a laugh and langa smiled and nodded his head getting back on.
"okay okay." reki shouted as he clapped his hands and langa kicked off.
"you got this!" reki said and langa shuffled his feet on the board. he popped the back tail but somehow he couldn't manage to swipe his foot across the deck so he ended up falling off once he landed.
reki scrunched his face feeling the pain of falling and langa sat up holding his knee.
"i fell on the same cut i got yesterday." langa said as he was blowing wind into the new hole that formed in his jeans near the knee.
"it's okay, you almost landed one yesterday." reki said and held a hand out to langa. "you're close!" reki said and langa smiled and took his hand, reki pulling him up.
"almost there." langa said as he took a deep breath and let it out. reki then smiled but it was a sad one.
langa was getting paler day after day. he was thinner. he sleeps very long hours which scares the doctors because they're taking it as a sign that one day he might not wake up. sometimes the hunger hurts langa so bad, he has cramps that causes him to struggle with walking. he just grabs at his stomach and winces. today was a good day for langa since he wasn't in any pain and he wasn't complaining. not that he does ever.
while reki was in his own head, langa had fell again, on his elbow. reki realized he fell and jogged over to help him.
"that one hurt, gimme a second." langa said as he held his elbow and his mouth was in an 'o' shape. reki chuckled a little and waited for langas pain to ease up.
