"we have your transportation set." ala said as she knocked on reki's slightly opened door. "meet us down in the lobby in five minutes." ala added as she peeked her head through the crack.
reki nodded his head and grabbed the gym bag from under his bed. he had stuffed it with a blanket, a water bottle, some snacks, and langas hoodie.
reki slung the strap over his head and he walked out. he got onto the elevator and took his phone out.
reki:
i'm going now.miya:
okay.
want me to go with you?reki:
i'm good.miya:
okayreki turned his phone off and shoved it in his pocket. the elevator door opened and reki walked out.
he walked down the hallway and into the lobby seeing ala talking to a guy with bright orange hair. reki walked up to ala and als grabbed his shoulders.
"okay. shadow, this is reki." ala said as she pointed to reki. reki nodded his head and held out his hand.
"nice to meet you."
"you too, reki!" shadow said enthusiastically and reki just smiled and nodded.
-
"make sure you buckle up." shadow said as he hopped into his drivers seat and reki got in the back.
reki did as told and he threw his bag beside him.
"so where would you like me to take you today?" shadow asked and reki leaned his head back on the seat.
"jokopi cemetery." reki said dan shadow looked into his review mirror. he saw reki swallow as his head was still resting on his seat.
"okay, would you like some music?" shadow said as he stated the car.
"no thanks, i have my own." reki said as he flashed a quick smile towards shadow and plugged his earphones in. shadow nodded his head and drove off.
-
"want me to wait in the car?" shadow asked as reki opened the door.
"no thanks. you can leave and come back in an hour. that's all i need." reki said as he got down and reached over to grab his bag.
"am i allowed to do that?" shadow asked scratching the back of his head and reki shrugged his shoulders.
"go get something from McDonalds for yourself and then come back in an hour. no one has to know." reki said and he shut the door.
shadow was going to say something but the door shutting got in his way. he had been informed about reki beforehand about his situation.
someone close to him died two days ago. reki wasn't taking it well and he was quiet and when he did speak, he was straight forward and blunt. shadow just inhaled and decided he was going to park at a fast food place across the street.
reki walked until he found a familiar grave. langa hasegawa. reki bit his lip and grabbed his bag strap and took it off.
he dropped it on the floor and got on his knees to open it. he took out the blanket and laid it out in front of the grave.
reki placed his bag aside and laid on the blanket, arm covering his eyes to block them from the sun.
"hi langa." reki said bitterly tone since a lump formed in his throat. "yesterday was your funeral. your mom didn't handle it well."
"i'm sorry i didn't come up to say goodbye to you, but no way in hell am i going to let you laying in a casket be my last memory of you." reki said as his eyes watering remembering what his last moment with langa actually was.
"i was there though. i was in the back. i didn't want to be around anyone. i couldn't be around anyone because if they tried to give my their condolences, i would've broke." reki said swallowing.
"to be honest, i don't even want to continue without you. it's only been two days and i don't remember what my life was like before i met you." reki said as he sat up, eyes watering. "i'm loosing my mind without you."
reki then tightened his lips in a flat line as a tear fell, and he ran his finger along the plaque tha hand langas name on it.
"i can't be a hypocrite now though. remember when you asked me what we liked happen if they found a last minute cure for you and i said you should continue living happily? even though i'd be gone. well, i have to stick to what i said." reki said as he wiped his tears.
"i have to stay strong for miya." reki said and then his eyes widened. "oh my god, speaking of miya, guess what. yuji woke up." reki said and he continued talking to langa.
"it's a shame you didn't get to meet him. he's a sweet kid." reki said as he nodded his head.
"god, i hate who i've become." reki said as he shook his head and looked down, playing with his pants. "all i do is stay in my room, cry, and stay away from people. when i do talk to people it's just, i don't know, not my usual self." reki said.
"i'll get better." reki said and he looked at the plaque. "i'll be okay, so i don't want you to worry." reki said as he smiled but a tear fell from his eye.
"but dude!" reki shrieked as he wiped his eyes. "you're such a jerk! you have shins crying all the time now." reki said with a slight laugh but then stopped.
"okay, it's not funny but still." reki said and he bit his lip and looked at the grave. "i'm coming here everyday for an hour at least, i hope you know that." reki said and then laid down.
for the rest of the hour, reki laid there and talked to langa. he ate some snacks and drank from the water bottle he had.
reki felt some comfort talking to langa like this. it made him happy and reki got the chance to tell him whatever he didn't get a chance to.
reki didn't know if langa was here and listening but every now and then, a breeze would flew by. reki liked to believe it was langa signaling it was him, and that he was here, listening.
