Lincoln and Miles were in danger. Now they had Lamar's gang after them, and not only to tease them...but to kill them.

The crooks had been snitched on by an anonymous person the same day Lincoln had met Miles, but unknown to Lamar and his goons, it wasn't Lincoln and/or Miles. Heck, the two friends didn't even know anybody said anything, at all.

The way Lamar's crew had found out they were being hunted? They saw some wanted posters scattered throughout the neighborhood.

"I knew that stupid white-haired kid would snitch on us!" Julian yelled to his companions. They were in the suburbs of Austin, where Miles lived.

And since they had followed the kids earlier, they knew where they lived (when Miles and Lincoln left the basketball court, they walked to Miles's house, which was also Lincoln's new home).

"How de we know it's them?" Denny asked his fellow goons.

"Bro, what? Who else can it possibly be?" Lamar asked in a rhetorical tone.

"I don't know, but I just have a feeling it wasn't them," Denny replied.

"Well, we have no choice now. They gotta be silenced...for good," Julian chimed in. The gang members all agreed and then headed to Miles's house. This was about a half hour after they spotted the boys at Miles's house, so the boys had time to settle in.

...........

Lincoln and Miles hadn't stayed at the latter's house that long, and they instead went to the local arcade where Lincoln stole the basketball.

They played around a little bit, and then left the building. It was an old-fashioned arcade that resembled one from the 1980s, one that was underground.

When Miles had introduced Lincoln to his family earlier, Lincoln was able to see Miles's mother and older sister. Miles never had a dad growing up.

As the friends walked closer to Miles's street, they saw many police cars zoom down the street, as well as an ambulance and firetruck. Then they realized that they were heading towards Miles's house.

He lived towards the middle of the long, straight street. The boys started sprinting towards the house, but Lincoln felt his ankle pop.

It was strange; he was able to handle and shoot on the basketball court just fine, but once he started sprinting, he collapsed.

Miles glanced behind him and shouted, "Lincoln?!"

"Just go without me! I'll catch up with you!" Lincoln answered while grasping his ankle in pain. After a few minutes, Miles never came back...but somebody else did, somebody who Lincoln never hoped to see again; his family.
