-Aries' POV-
I'm walking over to the courtyard so I can go practice my swimming, until I overhear some people talking to each other, I go hide in the corner to make sure they don't hear me
"Hey." I hear someone say
Is that Athena? I think to myself
"You came." some else says
What are they doing together? I mentally think to myself
"So what's up?" Athena asks
"Well, I need to talk to you about something." Elijah says
"What is it?" she asks
"You've changed Moon." he says
I knew it. I knew they weren't good together. So this is what I was sensing that was going to happen I think to myself.
"What are you talking about?" she asks
"You've become to focused with your studies, you've been hanging around with foxes, and worst of all, you've been acting like my mother, and she's dead now, because of how she was." Elijah says
"What are you talking about Elijah? Foxes? Mom?" she exclaims
"The Twins, Ezra. Them. They're foxes." he says
"Did you not know that?" he asks her
"No.. I-"
He cuts her off
"Don't say anything, please, don't make this harder then it has to be!" he yells
"What happened to us..?" he asks
"I don't think this friendship should continue, i'm sorry Athena." he says
So this is what was going to happen.. I think. That was harsh I think to myself. I start to walk to Moon, to see if she's alright, but then I hesitate. I hear quiet sob coming from the inside of the courtyard. I slowly approach her to check on her, which she's probably not alright though.
"Why.." I hear a quiet mutter
"Hey Moon?" I say quietly
"Oh hey Aries, what's up?" she says
She quickly gets up, and wipes her tears quickly, trying not to show that she was crying in front of me.
"You don't have to put an act, I heard everything." I say
"Are you ok?" I ask
"No! I just lost one of my best friends, and I don't even know what happened! Is what he said right Aries? Tell me!" she says starting to cry
"I don't know, Moon.." I say
I'm not good at comforting people, but I try to make an attempt to comfort her. I move closer toward her, and awkwardly give her a weird hug. She welcomes my embrace and melts into my arms. I inhale her smell if fresh flowers, and warm spring air. I haven't had a good hug like this for a while. We stay like this until I decide to speak up and say something
"Do you want to go back to the dorm?" I ask
"Yeah." she sniffles
We walk back to our dorm, and I unlock the lock on our dorm and push the door open.
"Do you want to go to my room or yours?" I ask a sniffling Athena
"Yours." she says
"Ok." I respond
We walk to my room, and I am immediately greeted with a loud chirp from a very annoying bird screaming.
"Harper, shut it!" I yell
I place Athena on my bed, and give her a blanket.
"Hold on, i'll be right back, i'm gonna go get something real quick." I say
I go to the kitchen so I can bring Athena some ice cream, and I think she'll enjoy Harper's company to go with it. I think she prefers vanilla ice cream over chocolate, so I bring her Vanilla.
"Hey, i'm back and I brought some vanilla ice cream for you." I say
"Ice cream, Ice cream." Harper repeats
"Vanilla ice cream, Ice cream." Harper chirps
"Harper! Be quiet!" I shout
"Harper quiet! Aries quiet!" Harper chirps again
"Come here Harper." I say
She flies onto my hand and I give her pets, even though she is being a bad girl.
"Hey Athena, this is Harper." I introduce them
"Do you wanna pet her?" I ask her
"Yeah." she says quietly
I pass Harper to Athena and place her on Athena's hand.
"Cool!" she whispers and her eyes sparkly
"Do you want me to stay in the room?" I ask
"Yeah." she says
"Hey Aries, can you promise me something?" she asks
"Yeah, but it just depends on what it is." I respond
"I.. just don't leave me ok?" she asks me
"Anything for you bubs." I say
"Bubs?" she questions
"It's your new nickname." I say with a chuckle
"I like it! Now I need one for you too!" she says
"You'll think of one." I say
"So mean." she pouts
"Are you feeling better?" I ask her
"Yeah, thank you Aries." she says
"Question, do you like plants?" she questions me
"Yeah actually, I have a bunch in my room." I respond
"I have it!" she exclaims
"Have what?" I ask her
"Your nickname!" she says
"Oh, what did you come up with?" I ask her
"Fern or Sage?" she asks me
"Uhh Sage?" I say
"Then your new nickname will be Sage!" she exclaims
"Haha, that's a good one." I give her a smile'
"Thanks for making me feels better Aries." she says
"Of course, i'll always be here for you." I say
"Oh but I do have a question." I add
"What is it?" she asks
"Well I overheard your conversation with Elijah, and he mentioned something about the twins and Ezra, and foxes? I question
"Oh.." she says
"Hey, it's fne if you don't want to tell me." I tell her
"No, it's ok." she says
"Well, you don't know this but, i'm an owl, so is Elijah and Olive. We have a rival against our parliament. Those are the foxes, which are, Bailey and Blakeley and Ezra, and there are probably more at this school, but that is what he meant by the foxes.." she finally says
"Ahh, I see." I say
"One more thing." I say
I don't get a response, but then I see a sleeping Athena, with her chest rising and falling softly. I guess all that crying and talking must have made her sleepy I say to myself. I kiss her forehead to ensure that she has good rest, then I say
"Sleep well Moon." I whisper
