i watched from afar as they both sat in front of each other in the grass. finn strumming his guitar, her eyes not adverting their gaze on him. the ice cream cup that once had strawberry ice cream in it, was empty and discarded behind him. they traded jackets, hers being a bit too small for him and i'm sure they've shared their laughs about it.

behind all the sadness i felt, i also found a bit of humor in the situation because we used to do this exact same thing. strawberry ice cream cups scattered behind us, wearing each other's jackets, singing together .. nothings changed.

i heard her giggling to her friends in the hallway the other day, bragging about how he had taken her to a hidden mountain side. if only she knew that we've had many dates in that same spot. if only she knew that we'd go to his house and watch friends for the rest of the night, just like they do. if only she knew that everything he's doing with her, is just a copy of what he's already done with me.

that's the funny part.

she was humming uptown girl in glass the other day. he probably showed her that song while driving to "their special place". funny.
sometimes i wonder if i ever cross his mind when he's with her. if when he looks at her, he sees me instead. if she laughs, he hears mine.

i guess i'll never know.
