At the film location, Manager Sejin informed them that they would film for four days. During that first day, they would film the solo shots, the second day would be the outdoor casual outfit shots, the third day would be for the indoor shots with the fancier outfits, and the last day would be the colorful outfits in front of the green screen. Everyone changed into the casual outfits and the three doing their solo shots first were Jungkook, Namjoon, and J-Hope since they were all indoor shots.
Yumi was in charge of recording the behind the scenes that would be released not too long after the music video. She was given a small handheld HD camera and they explained that she should film their reactions before and after shooting their scenes, some of the actual shots, and then them off camera while getting ready or resting briefly. Since behind the scenes videos tended to be more laid back with editing and video quality, they trusted that she would do a good job.
Author's Note: If you want to have an idea of what she was asked to film, look up "BTS 'Dynamite' MV Shooting Sketch" on YouTube
She filmed the boys finishing up their makeup looks for the video before Jungkook was first up for his filming in a college dorm looking set. When she approached him with the camera, she asked him about the concept behind his part in the music video and he explained to the camera that it was a college student who took a sip of milk in the morning and then danced around his room before heading out to hang out with his friends later in the video. He was very confident and calm when the camera was on. She stopped the recording briefly before shooting once they started to record the scene.
"That was great Jungkook! I liked that take," she said with a smile.
"You really think so?" he asked as he blushed a little.
"Yeah totally, very professional."
"Jungkook, we need you on set," one of the directors called out.
He got on set, filmed his part, and Yumi shot a bit of his take. They filmed it a few times to get different angles or make up for his mistakes here and there. She had never actually heard the song before and she was impressed with their level of English as the shoot went on. She did the same style of recording for everyone before their solo scenes.
The other two days of shooting had a similar dynamic to the first day and it seemed to get easier as the shoot went on. The last day was the fastest since most of the work for that scene would be made in post and added onto the greenscreen. She was very happy and honored to be able to help out with the music video, go out and have that experience of a lifetime, and even get to record for the other members of ARMY. However, she felt bad that Jin didn't have many lines in the song or much screen time in the entire music video.
They each went back to change into their normal clothes before they went back to the dorm room for lunch time and to continue working on music from home or doing other things they didn't have time for like picking up hobbies, watching TV, listening to other artists, reading new books, and so on. Jin was the first to finish getting dressed and came out of the dressing room to wait for the others and Yumi approached him.
"That was great! I never knew how much work went into a music video," she said with excitement.
"I'm glad you had fun and that you came with us," Jin told her.
"I don't mean to be rude when I say this but...you didn't participate much in this song or the music video. That's kind of unfair, don't you think?"
"It's fine Yumi, really. I'm kind of used to having the least lines and screen time in songs. But I'm sure I'll get more opportunities during the rest of the album. I have a few songs I want to suggest."
"Between us, your parts were my favorite."
"Really?"
Yumi nodded with a smile.
"Well thank you Yumi, that's very kind of you to say. You did a great job too! I saw how well you took shots of us and asked appropriate questions before and after shooting."
"Oh me? That was nothing...I think I was terrible but I tried following the vibe of your other behind the scenes videos I've watched of you guys."
"And watching them paid off in the end. I'm sure we'll have an amazing behind the scenes thanks to you."
Jin and Yumi looked at one another briefly as they smiled together. The others began to leave the dressing room and they hopped into the van to go back to the dorm. Once they returned, Yumi went to the kitchen to cook lunch for them as usual and she turned on her speaker to play a variety of BTS' music while she cooked. As she was laying out her ingredients to make lunch, Jin entered the kitchen while Yumi listened to her music.
"Oh hi Jin! Do you need anything or have a request for lunch?" she asked him, kindly.
"May I help you cook? I have nothing to do right now with the free time and you know how much I love to cook," he replied with a smile.
"By all means, sure, I'd love some help. I never mind cooking for eight but it would be faster with help."
Jin grabbed one of the aprons and put it on. Yumi told him what she planned on making for lunch and he grabbed the vegetables to wash and chop them while Yumi preheated some items on the stove at low heat. "Airplane Pt. 2" began to play on the speaker and as Jin chopped the vegetables, he softly sang along and it caused Yumi to smile as she did her own thing. After chopping the vegetables, Jin told her he would handle the stove and she could grab plates, utensils, napkins, and cups to set up the table.
As she was grabbing the plates and cups, she looked over at Jin who was standing in front of the stove. The heat from the food made Jin a bit hot and he rolled up his sleeves and exposed most of his arms. Yumi lost all focus on her task as she watched him. She was almost drooling as his muscles were exposed enough to be seen but not so much for them to be fully appreciated and it was a slight tease that gave Yumi goosebumps. His shoulders were also so broad and wide, even more in person than photos. He then wiped some sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand and all she could think about was how he didn't sweat, but rather he glowed. She was looking at a god of hotness and imagined a million things in her mind. Suddenly, she was snapped out of her trance when a new song began to play. The first few beats made her freak out and she quickly ran to the speaker to change it.
"Was that...the song I think it was?" Jin asked.
"Please don't say it out loud," she pleaded.
"Alright, as you wish."
He leaned close to Yumi and whispered into her ear.
"Was that 'Expensive Girl*?'"
Yumi got chills down her spine both at the mention of the song title and the fact that Jin had whispered in her ear kind of seductively. She backed away from him and responded.
"Yes, it was that song. Please don't tell Namjoon. I know he hates it (and for good reason) but I appreciate it as a cover and think nothing else of it," she replied nervously.
"Your secret is safe with me, I won't say nothing," he told her before winking.
Yumi nervously laughed it off and went back to setting up the table.
*Author's note: If you do not know that song, DO NOT look it up out of respect for Namjoon. However, look up the original version of the song to have an idea of what "Expensive Girl" is about. The original song is titled "Take it Off (Dim the Lights)" by Pharell Williams.
