"So what if it's across the country? It'll be cheaper and a better place for your grandma and me," her mom said trying to reason with Yumi.
"Mom! Don't you see what's going on? Bong-Cha is trying to take you away from me and grandma!" Yumi replied, annoyed.
"That is not true! Bong-Cha said your grandma could move in with us."
"Us? Who is us? I'm not moving to Busan with you, I have to stay here in Seoul with the guys."
"Bong-Cha is going to move in with your grandma and me in Busan. She'll help pay rent and she found me a place where I can have the same job I have now."
"Bong-Cha wants to move in? You guys have been together for four months! Don't you think it's too soon mom? What does grandma think?"
"I haven't told her yet, you're the first person I am telling."
"There is no way grandma will agree to this."
Yumi left the room, fuming, and walked to the kitchen where her grandma was heating up dinner on the stove. Her mother followed behind her.
"Halmeoni! Please tell my mom that moving in with Bong-Cha is too soon!" Yumi exclaimed.
"What are you talking about?" her grandma asked.
"Bong-Cha found us a place in Busan and she said she'd move in with us," her mother calmly explained.
"Are you sure this is what you want Minji?" her grandma asked.
"Of course it is. I trust Bong-Cha."
"You heard her Yumi, your mother is a grown woman and she can do as she pleases. I will follow her wherever she goes as long as you're both ok with it. It's up to your mother."
"I can't believe this! Do you guys not see what Bong-Cha is doing? She is trying to separate us. First it starts with moving to Busan, then she'll keep you all from visiting often, and before you know it I'll be all alone."
"You know Korea is very small. It's not a long commute," her grandma pointed out.
"It's a three hour bus ride. Sure doing that once in a while is fine but if I want to see you guys on my days off I have to do that twice in one day once a week, it's tiring."
"Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for your family Yumi," her mother said sternly.
"I know that better than anyone mom. I sacrificed my health, sleep, social life, and everything else so that not only could I attend the school I wanted but also to help you both out with rent and bills. Then when I finally seemed to have everything in place, I had all the things I ever dreamed of, something just had to go wrong didn't it? Well you know what? I'm tired of adjusting so that everyone else can be happy. For once in my life, I am going to decide what I want to do and be selfish."
"Now, there's no need to go to the extremes," her grandma said in a calm tone.
"You guys want to move to Busan? Fine then, leave! But don't expect me to come around once a week to see you if ever. In fact, why not get used to that starting now? I will be by myself in the BTS dorm while you three plan your move. I'll come back once a week to see you while you're here but that's it. I'm done."
Yumi walked to the living room where her suitcases were around the couch and began to angrily stuff her things back into the luggage. Her mother and grandmother followed behind and tried to get her to change her mind. Yumi said nothing as she packed her items while her grandmother and mother kept telling her to think it over, relax, and they'd work it out. When she finished packing she grabbed her keys and headed for the door.
