While cooking dinner, they decided to make dumplings. Jin would cook the beef and pork filling while Yumi made the dumpling wrap from scratch. By the time the meat and vegetables were cooked for the filling, Yumi would be done making the dough and then they would cut it together and wrap the dumplings before letting them sit in the steamer to cook. While wrapping the dumplings, the music played in the background as usual. "Epiphany" began to play and Jin softly sang along to his song with a smile which made Yumi smile too as she admired her little private concert.
"This is my favorite song of your's," Yumi commented.
"Really? How so?"
"In it you talk about learning to love yourself after having gone through a breakup and that maybe you don't need someone else to feel loved. I like that."
"You did get the message of the song then, that was my intention when I made it."
"I also love your vocals in it, very impressive and clean."
"If only everyone else appreciated me as much as you do."
"You have tons of adoring fans! What are you talking about?"
"Like you mentioned after the music video shoot, I don't get much screen time or lines in songs."
"But you have this new album, maybe that can change."
"I've suggested a few songs to the others and the producers at Big Hit but none of them have been accepted into the album. So far, I'm only helping write one song called 'Stay' but that's it."
"That's it? Just one song?!"
"It's alright Yumi, I'm used to it so it doesn't come as a surprise to me."
"No! That's not ok! I knew you were underrated but I thought it was because you personally didn't want to participate more. Now you're telling me that they reject your songs and don't let you participate more just because? Have they ever told you why?"
"They normally tell me that my lyrics and songs don't fit the theme or the vibe of the album we're working on."
"Ok and then why don't you get more lines in songs?"
"The songs are set to accommodate all of our varying vocal ranges. Most of the time they're set for Jungkook, Jimin, and Taehyung's ranges because they're all sort of the same. I sing what I can."
"That's fair I guess but what about your lack of screen time?"
"If I don't have lines in songs, I don't have a reason to be front and center all the time."
"Doesn't it frustrate you?"
"Sometimes, but I'm ok."
Yumi put down her dumpling wrap and gently held Jin's empty hand. They turned to face one another and made eye contact.
"I don't care what any producer, director, or what the other members think but to me, you're talented and deserve the spot you have in BTS. You are worth it, you are valued, and...I admire you."
Jin pulled her in for a hug and rested his head on her shoulder as she wrapped her arms around his waist and laid her head on his chest. As they hugged, Jin began to cry softly.
"Nobody has ever told me I value so much to them. I've never felt so loved, thank you."
"I'll always remind you how much you mean to me. You've inspired me to do so many things with your music and personality, so thank you for making me who I am today."
He pulled back from the hug and wiped his tears off with a paper towel.
"I'm sorry, I lost my cool there for a second."
