Chapter 50

Arizona's POV

Violet was 15 minutes from the house and we still haven't gotten Sofia to eat anything, she just says she isn't hungry. One of us has to be with her at all times or she starts freaking out,

"Hey babes Violets almost here, are you ready to see her?" I ask she she shakes her head

"What if she's mean" she ask

"Aunt Addie is the one who had us call her. They are friends I'm sure if you ask her she will tell you some funny stories of Aunt Addie in LA" I say and she smiles, first time since she has been back home,

A knock on the bedroom door makes her jump and hide into me but when Callie walks in with Violet she calms down and looks at her

"Hi Sofia, I'm Dr.Turner. Your moms gave me a call to come talk to you" she tells her

"You know Auntie Addie?" Sofia ask and she smiles and nods

"I do, She is a very good friend of mine" she says and Sofia smiles

"Do you want to try talking alone or do you feel more comfortable with your moms in here?" She ask

"I want my moms" Sofia replies and Violet nods

"Okay they can stay"

"So tell me when you first realized something was wrong"

"When I told her I wanted to go home and she said no"

"Okay so what did you do when she said that?"

"She pinched me and I fell asleep and woke up in that room my moms found me in" Sofia explains holding onto Callie and I tighter

"We are not going anywhere" Callie whispers and she loosens her grip

"Sofia your moms tell me that you can't be alone without one of the in the room and close to you, do you know why you feel like that?"

"I don't know, I just don't want them to be gone again and I don't want anyone to take me" she mumbles

"And you believe that when  you are with your moms you are not alone but if they leave you then you are afraid something will happen?" Violet asks and and Sofia nods

"I also heard you haven't been eating,"

"I'm not hungry" Sofia says

"Okay, that's okay as long as we try to get something in you" Violet says and Sofia nods

"Sofia what do you think will happen if your moms walk out of the room right now?" Violet says causing her head to shoot up

"That they won't come back" she says quietly and it hurts to know she feels like we will leave her

"Why don't we test that theory out? I can come sit with you while your moms step out, in a few minutes they will come back in. I promise they won't leave" Violet explains

"I don't know" Sofia says her voice trembling

"I will make you a deal, you let your moms step out for 2 minutes while I tell you a funny story about your Aunt Addie?" She says and looks up

"Like what?" Sofia ask

"Well there are so many, but one time she got caught dancing in her house naked by her neighbor" Violet says and Sofia laughs

"No she didn't" she smiles

"She sure did," Violet smiles

" now do you think you can be brave for 2 minutes while your moms step out and I tell you another story?" Violet ask and Sofia hesitantly nods

"Promise you will come back?" She ask

"We promise״  I say and she nods letting go of us as we walk out

2 minutes later we walk back in

"You came back!" Sofia says getting in our laps

"Of course we did, we are never leaving you Sofia" Callie says and she hugs her

She talks with Violet a little more before is was time for her to leave

"Do you think you can sit here while we talk to Dr.Turner?" I ask

"You will come back?" She ask

"always" I reply and she nods as we step out of the room with Violet

"So I think it's pretty clear she has separation anxiety, I would suggest leaving her for a few minutes and coming back, not a lot at once because it could overwhelm her but a few times a day, like oh I need to go get something can you stay here? And make sure she agrees to it so it's not like you are just leaving" she explains

"Why does she think we are leaving her?" I ask

"I think it's because Penny told her that you said to pick her up, we know that's not true but has anyone told Sofia that wasn't true?" She ask

"No" Callie sighs

"Just talk to her and do the exercise, also I can fly up her once a month at least unless she needs it more but other than that due to the distance we can do a virtual call unless you guys are looking for someone else" she explains

"No we want to keep with you if possible" I say

"That's perfectly fine with me"

"Do you think us going to see you next will be better? Since she will actually see Addison and we will probably be able to step away a little longer?"

"I think if that's possible then it sounds wonderful but don't strain yourselves" she says and we thank her saying goodbye and walking back in with Sofia

"You want to take a shower?" I ask and she nods

"Can I leave the door open?" She ask

"Of course" I reply

We walk together to get her a change of clothes and and she takes a shower and Callie and I feel ours. She said she was fine as long as we kept the door open so we did and just cracked it while we were getting dressed, Luke and the twins would be coming home in the morning so we were having an early night tonight, especially after not sleeping

"Go to sleep bug Momma and I will be here when you wake up" Callie says and Sofia yawns closing her eye and snuggles up to us

"I love you moms" she says

"We love you too bug" I say and kiss her head then reaching over to give Callie a kiss,

I hope Sofia starts to feel better soon,
