Harry's POV
After Hannah was sorted I kind of zoned out, Alex's mate got into Gryffindor, and the girl with bushy hair that was telling everyone random facts about Hogwarts, I'm pretty sure her name was Hermione, got into Gryffindor as well, which surprised me. Guess she didn't have enough brains to get into Ravenclaw, though I didn't care. I continued to zone out until I heard my mates name get called, and as soon as the hat touched one strand of hair on Draco's head, it called out 'Slytherin!'. After that I continued to zone out until it got down to the P's.
"Potter, Alex!" She shouted. The whole hall went dead silent, it was so quiet that you could hear the sparks the candles made ever so slightly. Everybody was whispering things like 'Alex Potter!??!' and 'THE Alex Potter!?!!'. It was quite annoying really. I watched as Alex strolled up to the stool with pride and sat down in a non-pureblood way. The hat was placed on his head and instantly shouted out 'Gryffindor!'. The while the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaws clapped as a normal human being would, and the Slytherins clapped only to be polite, the Gryffindors jumped up and were bouncing up and down, screaming things like 'WE'VE GOT POTTER!!!'. Once Alex sat down between Ron and Lavender, Professor McGonagall continued with the sorting.
"...Potter, Harry?" She said, confused, though I don't blame her, as not many people even know I exist. The great hall went dead silent again, everybody was confused on how there was another Potter. 'Another Potter?' they said, as well as 'I didn't know Alex had a brother.'. I started to walk up to the stool and as I did, everybody was looking at me in shock, even Draco, though I wasn't surprised, since I only told him my first name but not my last. I sat down on the stool and Professor McGonagall set the sorting hat on my head. After a few minutes of simply sitting there, the hat spoke.
"Slytherin!" It yelled. Nobody clapped, everybody was looking at me in either shock, fear, or disgust. The inside of my robe and my tie changed to green as I got up and gave Professor McGonagall the sorting hat, which she took with a disgusted look on her face, and walked over to the Slytherin table, sitting right next to Draco. Once I sat down Professor McGonagall continued to call out names but after two or so names were called Draco slightly leaned over and whispered to me, not taking his eyes off the sorting.
"Why didn't you tell me you were a Potter?" He said, in both a mad and sad voice. It hurt to hear his voice so sad and mad, especially since it was my fault.
"I thought if you knew you wouldn't want me as your mate... that you wouldn't trust me." I said, also not taking my eyes off of the sorting that was happening.
"Yeah, well I guess I can't trust you now if you won't tell me something as big as your last name." He said, sounding pist, and slightly scooting farther from me, though not by a lot. It was only an inch or two, but it still hurt that he wanted to get away from me. As a matter of fact, it hurt a lot. It felt as if my heart shattered, my eyes started filling with tears, which I refused to let fall, as I continued listening to the sorting. The only names I cared about that I heard was that Ron got into Gryffindor, and that Theodore Nott and Blaise Zabini got into Slytherin, as Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle had already been sorted into Slytherin before I or Draco did.
After Blaise was announced to be in Slytherin, who was the last person to be sorted, Professor McGonagall transfigured the three-legged stool back into a podium and sat down in the seat to the right of Dumbledore, who then stood up and walked in front of the podium and spoke. "Welcome first years to Hogwarts and welcome back second years and up! I'd like to make a few announcements before the feast begins. First, I'd like to say that we have three new teachers joining up this year. May I welcome Professor Quirrell, the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher," I looked at Quirrell as he stood up and bowed, he looked like a skittish man, with a purple turban on. As he was sitting down we made eye contact and my scar started to burn, though I forced myself to resist the urge to rub it. "May I also welcome our new muggle studies and Brooms teachers, Professor Evans and Professor Potter!" My eyes widened, I didn't even realize Lily and James were at the head table until now. When I looked up at them I saw them bowing at the Great Hall and sitting back down, after they did James and I made eye contact and he glared at me. "Now that that's out of the way, I would like to remind you all of the rules, as well as inform the first years of such. As some of you are purebloods, you may have creature inheritances. If you do, you are not allowed to show your wings, horns, ears, or tails outside your common rooms unless you are with your mate, who must be in a separate house then you. The forbidden forest is off limits for all years, and only years three and up may go to Hogsmeade. There will be no magic in the hallways between classes and the west third year corridor is off limits to everyone, unless you want to die a painful death." I raised an eyebrow, what could possibly be so dangerous that they would close a full on corridor in a school full of KIDS. "Now, let the feast begin!!!" Dumbledore said as he raised his arms, and as he did so, the tables filled with food.
