CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Nanigas ako sa labas ng hospital room ni dad nang marinig ko ang mom ko na si Deign Hutton na pinagsasabihan si dad.

"Hon, sorry na. Please forgive me?"

"Huwag kang sorry nang sorry diyan, David. Hindi kita mapapatawad sa ginawa mo sa nobya ng anak mo, sa tingin mo ba gugustuhin ni Blythe na marinig iyong mga katagang iyon sa iyo, syempre hindi. Dahil kung ako iyong nasa posisyon niya, masasaktan ako!"

My eyes widened after hearing my mom mentioned Blythe's name, my girlfriend. Bigla akong kinabahan sa sinabi ni mom kaya agad kong tinulak ang pinto na may kunting siwang.

"What were you saying, mom?" I asked her

That's the time I caught their attention. Dad is about to act like he's sleeping but I caught her so he didn't and my mom looks shock at the same time speechless.

"Mom?" I called her attention again.

Tinuro ni mom si dad na masama ang tingin nito. "Ask your dad."

"Dad..."

"Anak."

"Dad can you tell me what did you just say because I am dead nervous right now. I couldn't contact her, she's not leaving her hotel room, maybe she's sleeping..."

"I told her that you're marrying Harnese and that she have to leave you."

"Dad!" I can't believe what he just said. Napahilamos ako sa mukha at umiwas ng tingin bago siya ulit binalingan. "What did you do? She might think I am cheating with my sister-in-law, and what would you think Edward do if he'll get back home? He'll kill me and Blythe might leave me because of what you've said!"

I walk back and forth as I am dialing Blythe's number but she isn't answering, it's unattended.

"I can't call her, damnit!"

"I'm sorry son," I stared at my dad's side and saw him seriously saying sorry but it's not what I want right now! I want to see Blythe! I need to see if she's okay, if she's just sleeping, or what if she left me?

No, I shook my head because of overthinking.

"I just want to know if that woman really loves you, because you see, she told me that you both aren't in a real relationship, she said she loves you but she's still thinking if she should say it or not, that's why I made that plan hoping it would not be a stupid plan. I just want you both in a relationship already. I slept for three years but you still haven't had an heir."

"But that was a stupid plan, David! Pray that Blythe did not leave our son or else you won't be sleeping with me not until they're okay."

I look at him with disbelief before shooking my head. Mabilis akong lumabas ng room ni dad nang hindi nakapag-paalam at pinaharurot ang aking sasakyan sa hotel building namin.

I approached the receptionist with nervousness. Oh fuck! I couldn't think properly. She wouldn't leave me, right?

"Good morning..."

"Can you please check if Blythe Romualdez is still in the room 502?"

"I'm sorry but we cannot give you an information about it, mister..."

"I know it was one of the rules but I really need to see if my girlfriend is still their, look miss... You don't want to lose your job right? Because I can call whoever your boss right now and tell him..."

"The woman in that room left 24 hours ago, mister. But she left a letter for a guy named Vin Hutton."

"It's me. I am Vin." She looks at me shyly before shaking her head.

"I am very sorry sir, I didn't recognized you..."

"That's okay." I said then took the letter.

My hand is a bit shaking because of nervousness, my forehead and my back is even sweating... Until I opened the letter, I feel that my heart broke into pieces and I feel like some heavy thing drop in my stomach.

              Thank you for the time you spend with me, I never thought I would enjoy it with you, for the sacrifices you've made but this should stop right now. Let's go back to our normal life.

I shouldn't be hurting, I shouldn't feel this way but for the first time in my life... Only woman made me feel this way, only her could make my heart beat, make my mind think of her, make my eyes look for her.

"Vin, can you please stop drinking that alcohol!" Mom shrieked when she looked at my situation, pilit niyang inagaw sa akin ang bote ng mamahaling inumin at binigay iyon sa kasambahay namin dito sa America.

"I'm drinking, mom..."

"Hays!" She inhaled deeply before sitting beside me. "What should I do to you?"

"Mom, she said I should stop courting her... Am I not good enough?"

"No son. Please don't think of that way. Your dad was so stupid to tell her that. I can see the way Blythe looks at you, she has a feeling for you. Sino namang babaeng hindi mahuhulog sa isang katulad mo diba, anak? Natatandaan mo ba na ang dami mong manliligaw mapababae man iyan o kahit bakla."

We laughed at that because it's true and my mom knows about that one because she secretly read the love letters my suitors gave me that I already put inside the trash bin.

"Hindi mo sila sinagot, ni wala kang balak paglaruan ang feelings nila kasi para sa iyo tao rin sila kagaya mo na deserve nila ang pagmamahal na hindi mo kayang ibigay sakanila. Pero ngayon? Ngayon lang kita nakitang nanligaw and you must keep going anak kahit masakit diba? Kung talagang mahal mo si Blythe, kakayanin mo iyan. I nodded. My mom is true, pagkatapos kung grumadweyt ng BS marketing ay agad akong pinasok sa kompanya nila dad bilang isang marketing manager. I used my mom's middle name to avoid any judgements. I told my dad I'll learn it step by step but everytime dad is on meeting with the board, I was there. To listen and to take not, and to even understand.

Nagtagal ako doon hanggang sa naging secretary ako ni dad. Hindi naging madali para sa akin para marating ang posisyon ng kompanya namin bilang CEO pero kinaya ko. Hanggang ngayon may bago parin akong nadi-discover sa business, araw-araw akong may pinag-aaralan at lahat nang iyon ay kinakaya ko madali man iyon o mahirap ay gagawin ko parin para sa akin at higit sa lahat para sa pamilyang itinaguyod nila mom at dad.

At pinapangako ko sa sarili ko, I shall get Blythe back by hook or by crook. Without her, I couldn't even breathe and think properly.
