CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

"Mom..." As I opened the door, my son Vonn appeared, he suddenly hugged me when he saw me.

I kissed his cheek then he kissed mine after, iyon ang hindi namin nakakalimutan ang yakapin ang isa't-isa, hagkan, at ma-miss.

"Hi son, is there a problem from work?"

He shook his head as he walked with me to the couch. "Nothing mom, it's just that I don't know what to say, I cannot even think properly. Like how would I, mom?"

"Why? What's the problem?"

He brushed his hair until the back of his head then looked at me being frustrated. "I'm really sorry mom, for telling you back then when I was in highschool that I wanted to be a captain when in the first place I knew you and dad wouldn't want me to leave the house. Like tito Edward, I wanted to be captain and then I fulfill my dreams but now, my daughter, your granddaughter suddenly told us earlier to enroll in my previous school and I don't want to let her go, away from home."

Silence embraced us, then at a sudden I laughed, remembering the past. "Oh man, that was how I felt back then, I wanted to stop you from going to the sea, to the ship, but then I realized I shouldn't be a burden to your dream, to your wants, and you have freedom to choose...everyone does. At first I didn't really want to, I wanted to tell you that you should take business or engineering, and doctor but one day, as I saw you hiding your parcel then threw it's pouch on the trash bin, I kept on looking at it. Then I observed you keep collecting ship toys, wheels, and such. That's when I realized I can't do anything to stop my son's dream, I should support you instead."

"Then should I let my daughter Eiress enroll from where I studied? I knew how hard is it, it is really interesting but it is also tiring, you don't also need to be a crew, captain, but sometimes you need to be attentive in your surroundings. Safety and working as utility worker is hard so it is a very important decision for her to choose. Other thing is that she will be away from us."

"Supporting your daughter's dream job is very important, son. Even though she has to be away from us but then she should learn how to be a woman she desire. Give her the freedom she deserves. We need to accept if she wants to be like you, because if she sees her self in the future as a captain in the ship, we cannot do anything rather than to support her."

After talking with my son, Vonn. He went home to his family. I miss them, my sons and daughters but I understood that they're building their own family. I am happy for them, of course me and my husband Vin are both happy yet already old. We still have intercourse of course that is our life and love for each other.

"Ano na namang iniisip ng maganda kong asawa?" Vin appeared from behind then made me face him. I automatically hugged him and felt the warmth in his arms, this is my home always.

"Just thinking about our children, ang liliit lang nila noon eh tapos sobrang bilis ng panahon, may kanya-kanya na silang inuuwian."

Vin hummed and kissed me on top of my head. "I also missed our bulilits, Blythe. They used to be so noisy here in our house and now we missed them."

"Actually, Vonn came earlier, apparently you're at Adrian's house that's why you didn't saw him."

"Hmm... What did he do here?"

"He asked about Eiress' dream to become a captain and asked about my advice. I laughed when I heard his sorry na sabi niya "ganito pala ang feeling ko noong gustong-gusto niyang mag-aral as a captain ng barko."

He, my husband suddenly smiled while he's looking at somewhere else, he was thinking or either imagining... Hmp!

"Tell me what's in your mind right now, Vin. Or else you're going to sleep outside once again, you know I am not joking." Because one time I let him slept outside, the reason is that he never told me a secret he made with my sons, he planned to help my sons escape from their class because they were supposed to be going to the guidance office when they bullied their classmate. It was a bad action I won't tolerate but their father na 'curved' ang pag-iisip ay kinuntsaba pa ang mga bata sa panloloko. Lalo tuloy lumala ang sitwasyon, ang ending ay natulog siya sa labas ng dalawang araw. Kulang pa nga kaso naawa rin ako sa kadahilanang marami siyang kagat galing sa lamok, ayokong ma-byuda agad dahil doon.

"Ugh, Eiress is a good lady we all knew that our grandchildren were raised well enough so I trust Eiress. Infact, she kept telling me stories about her exam, that she passed. She just have to wait for her parent's signal and then she would go. Haysss, pati na rin iyong mga anak natin ay ang bilis lumaki."

"Really?!" I jumped and hugged my husband. "That's great! Maybe I'll call her... Oh my god, I am so happy for my granddaughter!" I was clapping and smiling 'til I reach my cellphone on top of the table in the living room. I sat on the chair because my leg is getting tired when it comes to standing too long.

"Yes mommy-la?" I heard my granddaughter Eiress' voice coming from the other line.

"Hi love, is it true that you passed your exam?"

There was a silence from the other line so I called her once again. "Eiress?"

"Uhh, yes mommy-la... Opo pero pa'no niyo po nalaman?"

"Your lolo didn't mean to say a thing or two but I said he'll be punished if he will not tell me what is your 'chika' with him or else he'll sleep outside."

"Aha, yeah right grandma. But yes... Thank God I passed but dear I was so afraid of my parent's decision. I want to do this mommy-la, I really want to pursue this because someday I wanna be like my dad, a captain. But it's just that I want to stay there for the rest of my life... Of course when I'm in my vacation I had to stay with all of you for months. Syempre susulitin ko na kasama ko kayo, I know I'll be missing you all but we can talk through calls or video calls, I'll go home if I'm in my vacation, and I'll give a life update because I will not be like this if I am not a family oriented. You raised me with love, hope, care, and financially supporting me."

"I'm so happy for you, really, and your lolo and I planned to go out tomorrow in the evening to have a dinner date and also a celebration for your passed examination. If you're free..."

"Yes of course, mommy-la. Send me the location and I'll be there, thank you mommy-la."

"But you know mommy-la will not let anyone else go away from me that easily, right?"

"Oh... Okay fine mommy-la, what kind of favor will you ask from me?"
