Grim was surrounded by the cheers and laughter of the soldiers around him. He sat on top of the barricade wall sipping a beer. He stared up at the night sky thinking to himself. There was a rush of air and Nadia landed next to him.

"Lonely up here isn't it." She said.

"Yeah." He said taking a drink.

"What's eating at you? You were in a good mood while we were hunting." The duo had caught several minor demons that they had taught the soldiers to take apart.

"It's nothing, I guess Lilith just messed with my head more than I realized."

"When she was pretending to be your sister she called for Sam."

"That was my name but I changed it when Lord Death offered to make me a hunter."

"Why?" She asked sitting next to him.

"I wanted that part of my life to dissapear. I wanted Sam, Kelly, my dad, all of it to just go away. I became Grim the merciless attack dog of Death, not Sam the abused bastard child of a cop and a secretary."

"I don't know what that was like, me and my mum were best friends."

"It doesn't matter, it's got to be nothing compared to what Skyra did to you." Nadia just looked off to the side.

"It was horrible Grim, the things she did there aren't words to describe how I felt. Lilith knew that and she used it against us. If we're going to kill Skyra, I can't let her use it against me again."

"You don't have to talk about it if it's to uncomfortable." He said.

"Then let me show you." She traced a pattern on her chest above her heart and then did the same to him. She hesitated and didn't activate the glyphs. Grim took her hand and nodded.

Centuries of pain flashed before his eyes. What had been mere days to Grim had been hundreds of years to Nadia. He watched as they cut her apart every way possible, as they violated her, as they degraded her until she gave in. When the horrific slide show ended a few tears escaped down her cheeks.

"How did you last so long?" He said astonished. He pulled her close and wiped away a fresh tear from her eye. "I would have caved long before you did."

"If I held out a little longer, maybe Elizabeth could have gotten out of the city before Skyra turned me."

"No, it's not your fault." He said holding her tighter.

"For once Grim is actually right about something." Both jumped when the heard the person who had silently landed next to Grim. He spun away and drew his gun.

"Now is that anyway to greet a friend." The woman said. She tilted the rim of the cowboy hat on her head to show her face.

"Holy shit, Selena?"

"In the flesh."

"What are you doing here?" Nadia asked.

"Working. The boss sent to find you two and help you however I can."

"Did you get a new partner?" Grim said lowering his gun.

"No. These weapons are made from a few demons me and the boss caught. I can't kill something like Skyra but I can make sure nothing sharp ends up in your back while you take her on."

"It's good to see you." Grim said.

"So let's go, I got a lead on one of Skyra's Generals."

Grim downed the rest of his bottle and stretched. He felt the alcohol dissolve from his system as his powers fully recovered.

"You ready?" He said holding out his hand. Nadia transformed and he slid her onto his back.

"Of course I am."

Sorry guys, just a mini chapter. Preparing for my AP exams has just completely emptied my head and I just keep deleting everything I wrote after this point so... I promise a full chapter will come out after my tests and graduation.
