CHAPTER 16

AN: Hello, I was in the mood to write but I don't know if it's okay or not. I find it lame 😂. Well, I was actually thinking of stopping but it was actually harder being said than done. 😂😂 So I'll just write if I have an idea.

JUSTIN GULF

We are pacing back and forth in this hospital emergency room. We are waiting for the doctor to get out of the emergency room and have news about Claire and her baby. Mew also ask help to trace whoever the driver of that car was.

A few more hours and the doctor comes out of the operating room. We run to him as fast as we could and ask about Claire's condition.

"She is stable for now. But she is under observation for the next 24 hours. Hopefully, she will recover."

I breathed relief to what I heard. But immediately turn to the doctor to ask about baby's condition.

"How about her baby? Is the baby okay?"

"Yes, the baby is miraculously safe. Even the baby is on full term, he might need to stay at NICU for at least a week for observation. "

"Can we see the baby?" Asked Mew.

"Yes of course. He will be delivered at the NICU and you can visit him there. As for the mother, she is inside the ICU until the observation hours is over. If you don't have any questions, I'll do rounds on my other patients. You can just inform the nurses station for any emergency."

I shook his hand and thank him sincerely.

"Baby, I will go home and get some clothes for us. Can you take care all of the needed documents to sign while you wait for me?"

I nodded. "Of course. Please drive safely. Don't forget to call the police too. We need update on the driver who run her over. "

He kisses my forehead before we separated ways. I directly goes to the nurses station to ask what I need to do about their admission here. I was given documents to sign and everything.

I was also given a blank live birth certificate to sign and was asked to give the baby a name.

I politely declined and said "Let's wait for the mother to wake up. I'm in no position nor right to name him."

They understand my situation and agreed. While waiting for the documents, I was informed that the baby is already at the NICU and can be visited already.

I didn't wait for Mew, and goes to the NICU to visit Claire's baby.

I roam my eyes around the babies inside each incubator and look for the baby, one caught my attention because it was named
"ICU baby", which made me sad. If I have the right, I will name him "Ansel which means German name meaning with divine protection while Eijaz" which means, miracle in Arabic, because he survived the accident and fight to live.

I am still admiring him when I felt a hand grabbed me on the waist and when I turn around I saw my husband, also looking at the baby.

" I feel sorry for him. He doesn't deserve the way he was delivered into this world."

"But let's be thankful that he survived that." I said.

"And let's pray that his mother survived her battle as well. Let's go to ICU. According to the nurse, Claire is awake and is asking for both of us."

We immediately run to the ICU and was instructed to wear a protective gown for patient safety.

When we arrive inside, we saw Claire us awake like she is waiting for us to arrive. I walk to her side and grabbed her hand.

"Claire, thank God you're awake."

"S-sir G-gulf, S-sir M-m-meww, ho-ow's m-my b-ba-by?"

"Your baby is safe Claire. Please, don't force yourself to speak. It might hurt you." Mew said.

"That's right. Just get better, so that you can name your baby, okay?.

She started to tear up, "I-i k-kno-w I w-wont make i-it. P-please, t-take c-care of m-my b-ba-by for me. Named h-him, I gave y-you all the blessings. T-tell him a-about me, w-when h-he g-ggrows up. T-thank y-you f-for all y-your help-p."

"No, Claire don't say that you will be better okay?" I am starting to cry too. I am not expecting this. I want her to be with her baby, they deserve to be together.

Claire just shook her head, and her tears continue to flow, while she mouthed "thank you" and slowly, close her eyes. I cried while Mew immediately press the button for emergency inside and the next thing we know is the doctor trying to revive Claire, and the next moment is the doctor saying,

"Time of death, 2:36AM".

At the same moment, everything went back.
