CHAPTER 5

JUSTIN GULF

When I reached the bottom of the stairs, my eyes searched for that particular person. And there I saw him, happily chatting with Ritz. Sending that someone is looking at him, he turn his gaze to me, and his face broke into a wide smile.

"Hey Gulf. How's your sleep?"

I smiled. "Slept very well. Sorry I wasn't able to answer your call."

"It's fine. I know you are tired." 

We are just staring at each other when Ritz spoke "I'll leave you two alone now, I think my wifey is calling me."

As Ritz left, I motioned him to sit on the couch. 

"How have you been Gulf?"

I smile. "I'm okay. Just being busy here and there. How about you?"

"Never been better."

Silence occupied between us. Until he cleared his throat.

"Do you want to go somewhere to talk?"

I nodded. I hurried upstairs, grabbed my bag, and left the sleeping Bai with Nala. Before we head out, we saw Ritz coming out from the kitchen. We bid him goodbye. We rode his car and decided to go to our favorite coffee shop. 

Once inside, he asked me to sit and luckily our favorite spot is empty. So i sit and wait for him. When he was approaching our table, my heart melts when I saw what he ordered for me. A hot latte and a slice of strawberry cake. We stared eating and talking about our lives while we are apart from each other. 

"How was your career in the US Mew?"

"It's good. I recently opened my own engineering firm. But I; m still handling my Dad's business. How about you?"

"Oh, I am actually working as an interior designer. A little hectic but it keeps me calm. Are you staying here for good?"

He smile sadly, "No, actually. I am just here because I need to visit my Grandpa's old beach house. He is dead, just a few weeks ago, and i learned that he left that for me as my inheritance. So, i will travel to Bohol to check it. "

I was sad but i never let him see my emotions. "Oh I see, my condolences. Have a safe trip tomorrow then."

"Actually Gulf, you are the first person that I am planning to visit today."

I'm stunned. "W-what?"

"Luckily, we met at the hospital and I was able to get your number."

I don;t know what to say. So I just ask "Why do you want to see me?"

"Well, I actually wanted to ask you if you want to come with me in Bohol.  You know, just to bond. I would like to ask Ritz and Bai, but obviously they cant."

I feel excitement rose up on me. "For how long?"

"Just for three days. I have to go back to Manila after i check the situation there. Well, do you wanna go with me?"

I admit, I want to go with him. But I am hesitating. Mama will be left alone for three days with just the helper to accompany her. Plus, Bai just gave birth. I can't leave just like that. Though I know that Bai and Ritz will support me if ever, but with Mama, I don't know. i t feels like the same situation seven years ago. 

But, what if this is the chance that i have been waiting for? I looked at Mew, and he was staring at me. Like pleading me to go with him. So, before i change my mind, 

"Yes. I will go with you."

I saw how his face lighten up after my answer. "Yes! Thank you! You won't regret coming with me. I promise." 

I know Mew. I know. 

We finished what we are eating and decided to go home. It was almost 11 in the evening when he dropped me off at the gate of our house.

"What time shall I pick you up tomorrow?"

"Oh. Ahmm, you don't have to. I'll just meet you in the convenience store near here. What time is our flight?"

"10 am. We have to be there by 8 AM. Flight is for an hour. Are you not planning tot tell your Mom?" 

I gulped. "Please Mew, don't ask for now. I'll just meet you tomorrow. " 

Reluctantly, he nodded. And when i enter the gate, he drive away. 

I hope, i wont regret my decision.
