Annabeth and I sit on our sleeping bags on the floor of the Poseidon Cabin. She stares hard at the statue of the sea god himself, while I bite my nails and gaze at my feet.
The other campers have noticed by now that Jason disappeared, no one's seen Percy in days, and Annabeth and I hardly make appearances outside our cabins and Percy's (even then it's just to get food).
Honestly, I'm running out of horrible jokes to tell Annabeth in a (failed) attempt at keeping her spirits up. There's only so many times you can 'knock knock' before it just gets plain annoying. And not just to her.
Riddles are another thing I've spouted endlessly to pass the time. They keep her distracted for anywhere between ten minutes and an hour, tops. Don't judge me. You try stumping a daughter of wisdom with a cheesy riddle you remember from third grade. The only bright side is that she's so determined to solve them that she does something besides sitting next to Percy 24/7. Sometimes I can even trick her into eating, claiming that it will help her think better.
"It's been three days and he's not getting better." She's frustrated. Her hands pull at her hair and faint circles have started to appear below her eyes. I know I can't look much better, but I don't dare look in a mirror.
I'm frustrated too, but for a different reason. I know Percy isn't going to get better if Jason doesn't get his game together.
I tried to Iris message him last night, but was met with nothing except a pink light and muffled conversation and the smell of perfume. I took it as a good sign that Jason has found my mother. Hopefully, things will only be uphill from here.
"He will," I promise, praying that my faith in Jason wouldn't be unrewarded.
"How can you say that?" she demands. "What if he doesn't? I don't know what I'll do!" I reach out and squeeze her hand reassuringly.
"Because if I know Percy, he'll get better for you."
