The Holidays

The next few days we kept on looking for Nicolas Flamel. We spent every free minute in the library to the point where the letters started to dance. We searched all the books that were on Hermione's list where we could possibly find him in.

"Nothing," I said.

"Okay, that's the last one, it's time for lunch," Hermione said and we walked over to the boys and walked to the Great Hall. "I don't understand, we've searched all the books on my list and more and we still can't find a single word about Nicolas Flamel."
She sighed.

"You will keep looking while I'm away, won't you? And send me an owl if you find anything."

"And you could ask your parents if they know who Flamel is," said Ron. "It'd be safe to ask them."

"Very safe, as they're both dentists," Hermione responded and we both giggled.

"Such a bummer you're leaving, it'd be so much fun with you here," I said.

"I know, but I'm gonna spend the holidays with my family and I'll be back very soon."

"Are you afraid to stay with us?" Ron joked.

"Very funny." I said sarcastically and we started on our lunch.

The holidays soon arrived and me, Harry and Ron were having a great time. We had so much fun we kind of forgot about Flamel. All the girls in my year went home for the Holidays, so I didn't have to share my dormitory. It was kind of lonely there, so I spent most time in the common room with the boys.
It was a lot emptier there too, so we could finally sit in the best armchairs near the fireplace. There we played a lot of games like wizard chess and talked about ways of getting Malfoy expelled, which were fun to talk about even if they wouldn't work.

Even though I had so much fun with the boys, I still missed Hermione, so I sent her a couple of owls during the break. On Christmas Eve we talked about what we would do the next day and went to bed early so the time would go faster.

The next morning, when I woke up alone once again, I was surprised by some little presents on my trunk. I quickly gathered them and sat down on my bed. I grabbed the top one and read the tag.

'To our beloved daughter.'

It was written in my mum's beautiful handwriting in nice gold ink. I carefully opened it and was surprised by multiple packages inside it.
In the first one was a photo of mum, dad and me from some years ago when we went on a vacation to France. I looked at it for quite a bit before I placed it on my nightstand and opened the second one in which was a beautiful necklace.

"Aww, it's beautiful."

My parents knew I always had a thing with stars so they gave me a necklace with the constellation of Aquarius on it. It was a nice, silver one with a pendant of my zodiac sign. I immediately put it on and opened the last one.

In the last present was a box of homemade Christmas cookies and some fortune cookies. It reminded me of home. It was kind of a tradition that we would make these cookies with Christmas. Every year we would, and she always gave me a fortune cookie to bring luck. I opened the box and grabbed a cookie, only now realising how much I missed my parents. I took a bite and was home for a second.

When I finished the cookie I laid them aside and went on to the second gift. It was from Hermione. I unwrapped it and inside were a box of Fudge Flies and a Chocolate Frog.
I'd sent Hermione a gift as well. It was a really nice new quill since I figured she would like that.

I cleaned up the mess I had made and dressed up, excited to see Ron and Harry.

When I went down I was glad to see that they were there already, but I felt a little bit misdressed.

"Since when did you guys decide that everyone here was going to wear a sweater with initials?"

Harry, Ron, Prefect Percy, Fred and George looked at me. The twins started laughing at me and answered my question.

"Yesterday. Have you not heard?" George said.

"We voted and all agreed we were going to wear matching sweaters." His twin finished.

"Well no one told me." I replied, feeling a bit uncomfortable and left out.

"They're just messing with you." Percy said while walking down the stairs of the boys dormitories.

Ron came up to me and told the truth.
"Our mum makes these every year. I told her Harry wasn't expecting any presents so she made him one. I can ask her if she can make you one next year, but if you ask me you're lucky you haven't got one."

I laughed. "Nah I'm fine. This outfit looks way better on me anyway." And I looked at the twins, they were still laughing.

"Anyway, I've got something for you," I said and pulled two nicely wrapped gifts from behind my back.

"Presents? But I haven't got you anything," Ron said, feeling a bit guilty.

"It's fine Ron just open them!" I watched them unwrap their gifts and loved their reaction.

I had given Ron a game of Uno, since he thinks muggle games are very interesting.
I had to ask my dad to go and buy it for me and send it here. Luckily it had arrived just in time.
I saw the confused look on his face and explained the muggle game.

"Wow, that sounds so fun, can we play this after breakfast?"

Harry had also opened his gift, which was a box of Bertie Botts.

"Merry Christmas guys!"

We had a great time doing all Christmas activities and me and Harry tried to teach Ron and the twins, who decided to join us, to play Uno.
George won most of the time, which made Fred and Ron, especially Ron play again and again and again until he finally won.

When it was time for dinner we went downstairs to be suprised by a massive feast. It was the biggest Christmas Dinner I'd ever seen. There were huge turkeys, mountains of potatoes, buttered peas, silver boats of thick, rich, gravy cranberry sauce, and every few feet along the table there were stacks of wizard crackers.
And this was only the main course, dessert was yet to come.
We ate like we had never eaten one single thing before and pulled a lot of the crackers.

Fred and Harry pulled one and it cracked with a large boom and surrounded us with blue smoke. Then out of it came a rear-admiral's hat and several live white mice.

Professor Dumbledore had swapped his hat for a flowered bonnet from one of the crackers and laughed with the other teachers while Hagrid was getting so drunk he kissed Professor McGonagall on the cheek.

Dessert was even better, it looked delicious, there were Flaming Christmas puddings and lots of other treats.
Some of us nearly broke our teeth on some silver Sickles embedded in our slices. When we finally left the table we were all stacked with stuff that came out of the crackers.

I had some Honeydukes treats, a grow your own warts kit, which I gave to the twins so they could pull a prank on someone on the condition it wouldn't be me, and some more stuff.

I had a really fun afternoon having a big snowball fight with Harry and the Weasleys. It lasted for a really long time, and when we finally returned to the common room we were all cold and soaked. Then we just all sat by the fire to warm up and watch Percy chase the twins because they'd stolen his Prefect badge.

It had been a great day but after that we pretty much all went to bed because we were so full and tired.
I sat down in my empty room and just sat there for a little. I erased the thoughts that tried to slip in my mind so that everything would be quiet for a little moment. It had been a great day, all of it.
