Sorting ceremony

Hermione and I stood before the big doors. Waiting for them to open so we could enter the great Hall. As they opened I looked my eyes out. It was so big, there were so many students and the candles and ceiling were awesome. Then the ceremony beginned. I saw the hat. What will happen at the moment it touches my head? Will it scream out a certain house immediately? Or will I be difficult? Will I get to choose?  Nerves started to raise through my body. Then it started.

"Abbot, Hannah!" The girl got sorted into Hufflepuff and with that it was someone else's turn. "Weasel, Puck!" That name sounded very familiar. After some names and houses it was finally Hermione's turn. I wished her luck and then she walked to the front.

She sat down and the hat was being placed on her head. After some time we saw the hat opening his mouth shouting: "Gryffindor!"
A disappointed feeling appeared  since she'd hoped to get into Ravenclaw, but as I saw her smile I knew it was fine. The only worry that I had left is what the hat will say.

And finally as the last one standing I heard my name. "Wendall, Jade"

I walked up to the chair in the front and sat down. The nerves were taking over me.

The hat got placed on my head and then it started talking. "Right... Very difficult... Yes... I can see... Right."

Then professor Mcgonagall took it off. "Alright, now you're all sorted, enjoy the feast."

She turned around when someone shouted "Not everyone professor, you didn't let the hat finish with that girl!"

"The hat is a little tired, we'll sort her tomorrow." Then she turned to me "You can go sit at any table you want for now. I want to see you tomorrow at 10 in the morning at Dumbledore's office."

I got scared. What have I done wrong? I walked to the Gryffindor table and sat down next to Hermione. "I don't believe he's tired. He's never tired." she said while grabbing a piece of cake.

Opposite me there was a boy with red hair that was eating way too much chicken. A weird feeling pops up in my stomach. He's kinda cute actually.

Then the boy with too much chicken in his mouth tried to say something but it was not very clear what. "I tsink is werd"

"Sorry what did you say?" I responded while trying to figure it out.

"I think it's weird. I'm Ron by the way, Ron Weasley."

When I heard his name I was shocked. He couldn't be family. I mean of course with the red hair it's kinda logical he is a Weasley, but I just hoped he wasn't.

"Weasley, funny. We're family then." Ron gave me a confusing look. "I got named after my father. Wendall, because I didn't have red hair. They thought Weasley didn't suit me because of my hair color."

Hermione immediately turned to me "They gave you a different name because of your hair? I think you've got wonderful hair. I can even see some red shades."

I giggled "It's not that they didn't like it."

Ron started talking again "This is Harry. You've probably heard of him." and he grabbed another piece of chicken.

"Harry Potter? Really? Wow... So you've defeated Youknowwho?"

"Well eh..." Harry said.

"He didn't even know he is one of the most famous wizards ever, some days ago. Isn't that crazy?" Ron responded as he took another bite of his chicken.

After the feast professor Mcgonagall came to tell me that I had to spend the night in an empty room on the seventh floor where she'd placed a bed for me.

When I finally arrived in the room, I was exhausted. I dressed in my pyjama's and went straight to bed since it had been a tiring day.

When I woke up at 9 A.M, I quickly made myself ready for the day and went to Dumbledore's office. There I met with professor Mcgonagall.

"Alright follow me."

I followed her on the long staircase to the office where professor Dumbledore was waiting for me.

"Ah, Jade Wendall right? Take a seat. We're going to sort you now." he said.

" Why not yesterday? Did I do something wrong?"

"Of course not, we just think that maybe you're a little too hard for the sorting hat. He's quite old you know. So we need to give him some time and for the other students that can be a little boring." He smiled.

Professor Mcgonagall placed the hat on my head again.

"Ah, it's you again. Let's see......"

Then it became quiet. As the time went past I got more and more worries till it finally made its decision.

"Gryffindor!"

I felt so happy, I got with Hermione!

"Slytherin!"

"Hufflepuff!"

Professor Mcgonagall ran up to me.

"Ravenclaw!"

She took the hat off and looked just as scared as I felt. What just happened?
