Hallowe'en

It was Hallowe'en. We all sat in the Gryffindor common room, waiting for breakfast, when I saw Neville walking in. He was struggling with a little piece of parchment on which he always wrote the password. I had to think of a way to tell him why I had to know everything about that mirror. Maybe I could ask about his parents and then slowly start about the mirror or just do it straight away? No, too obvious, and besides, it would be rude to just ask about his parents like that. Maybe I could take him to the room after breakfast and see what happens?

Ron, who was already starving, was gathering Harry and then walked up to me and Hermione.

"What are you waiting for? It's time for breakfast." You could hear the excitement in his voice.

I stood up and we walked to the Great Hall. We could already smell the baked pumpkins.

After breakfast we went to Charms. Professor Flitwick made pairs and we sat down. I was paired up with Neville, Ron with Hermione and Harry with Seamus. He told us we were ready to learn the charm to make objects fly.

"Now, don't forget that nice wrist movement we've been practicing," squeaked professor Flitwick, standing on his pile of books as usual. "Swish and flick, remember, swish and flick. And saying the magic words properly is very important, too - never forget Wizard Baruffio, who said "s" instead of "f" and found himself on the floor with a buffalo on his chest."

We swished and flicked, but soon realised it was harder than we had expected. Seamus was too impatient and set his feather on fire. Ron also didn't have much luck: he tried and tried and at some point just waved his arms around.

"Stop, stop, stop. You're going to take someone's eye out! Besides, you're saying it wrong, it's LeviOsa not LeviosA." I heard Hermione tell him.

"You do it then, if you're so clever."

Hermione rolled her sleeves up, flicked her wand and said "Wingardium Leviosa."

The feather rose off the desk.

"Oh, well done, well done. See miss Granger here? She's done it!" Professor Flitwick yelled out while clapping his hands.

Me and Neville were still struggling, but at the end of the class we managed to get it off the desk a little bit.

After the charms class Ron was in quite a bad mood. Hermione and I were walking behind him and Harry, we heard him say:

"It's no wonder no one can stand her. She's a nightmare honestly."

I saw tears come up in Hermione's eyes. Hermione rushed forward, bumped into Ron and ran away.

"I think she heard you," Harry said to Ron.

"So?" Ron said uncomfortably. "She must have noticed she's got no friends."

I ran up to Ron. "So who am I? No one?"

At that he became even more uncomfortable and I saw his face turn red.
"Ehh, I was only joking?"

"Sure you were." I said sarcastically and walked away.

Hermione didn't show up in the last class and I couldn't find her all afternoon. At last I walked to the Great Hall for the Hallowe'en feast and felt my stomach ache when I saw Hermione wasn't there either. I sat with Lavender and the Patil sisters when I overheard them saying that Hermione was crying in the bathroom. I stood up and ran away.

When I came in I heard her crying and she told me to go away. I walked up to Hermione and sat down next to her.

"He didn't mean it, he's just jealous."

"He's right, who wants to be friends with me?" she cried out.

"I'm your friend. And I'll always be. Promise."

She looked up at me "Why is he jealous? He's friends with 'Famous Harry Potter'."

"He's jealous because you did it better than he did." I told her.

"Then why isn't he jealous of you?"

"You did it way better than me and besides, maybe he wants to be friends but just doesn't know how to do that. Silly boys."

She gave me a little smile and I gave her a big hug. After that we just sat there. We didn't feel much for going to the feast.
