Cherry Blossoms

Cherry blossoms were blooming as light pink petals blew around in the light wind that kept the early summer heat away. Children played on the park grounds, swinging on the swings, sliding down the slides, just enjoying their young, playful lives. Couples sat underneath the shade of the trees or at park benches, eating or laughing, relishing in each other's bliss.

As all these people came to the park, there were two that stood out the most and that's where the story begins.

A tall, young, blonde boy comes, jogging at a steady pace, through the paths of the park. He looks to be around the age of 18, probably just graduated high school. As he jogs on, a slightly shorter, brunette, who looks the same age as him, follows behind him. He isn't in as good of shape as his breathing was faltered while he ran behind the more athletic blonde.

"Dream! Wait up!" He huffs, slowing down and stumbling to a walk. The brunette walks over to a drinking fountain and begins to chug as much water as he physically could. The blonde looks back over his shoulder, to find that he practically left his friend behind in the dust. He quickly ran back over, laughing as he patted his friend's back while he drank.

"Oh come on now, it can't be that bad." Dream stated, looking at the brunette whose face was bright red from either the running or the simple touch of his friend. "George, come on we are almost there."

"Ugh, you're so annoying." George groaned, wiping his mouth of any water that may have stayed on his face after drinking. Dream started walking away and George slowly followed along, but he soon turned back around and scoffed.

"Yeah, yeah. But you love me." Dream stopped and allowed George to catch up. As his friend got closer, he looked over his face. George's face was a light shade of pink and he looked a little flustered. That was just because he was running. You don't have a chance with him. Dream thought, he was shaken away from his subconscious when George waved a hand in front of his face, a confused look on his face that was now back to its pale, lightly freckled, self.

"Hello!? Dream~" he called out still waving his hand in front of his friend. Dream shook his head slightly, he was now taking his turn of blushing, embarrassed over his thoughts. He rolled his eyes and pushed George's hand away from his face. He quickly realized how harsh that may have been as George was just being playful.

"Sorry, um, come on let's go." He said rather awkwardly then he started walking in the same direction as before. He kept his pace at a walk now, letting George walk peacefully at his side. Every now and then, Dream would take glances at George, admiring his friends features. His dark hazel eyes, happily shown in the summer sun's presence. Speaking of the sun, it reflected off his hair, making it lighter than normal and bringing out any random blonde highlights it had. George also wore a cheery, closed, smile which could (and would) warm Dream's heart ever so much.

They had been walking for a few minutes now, the little bit of tension that they had a moment ago was gone as they laughed and joked about certain things, especially the children who were darting around their parents. "I remember when we would do that." George pointed out to two kids, both boys, who were running around with sticks in their hands. They looked to be sword fighting, dodging each other's hits and trying to hit each other back.

Dream nodded in agreement and let out a laugh as one of the boys hit the other a little too hard and his friend started to whine. "I think your that one." He pointed to the one who was pouting. George laughed too, but punched Dream's shoulder in retaliation.

Dream, after another good five minutes of walking, stopped himself and George at a bridge. The creek below was one that flowed throughout the whole park and had cherry blossom trees that followed alongside it. "Right here." Dream said, pulling George underneath one of these pink blossomed trees. He then took a seat at the base of the tree, gesturing to George to sit as well.

They both relaxed and watched the creek flow, it was full of the cherry blossoms which fell from the trees, creating a pinkish tone to the usually clear water.

There was a long period of silence in between the two as they sat and peacefully watched their surroundings. Since they were both distracted, they didn't even notice how close they were. George's and Dream's shoulders were touching and same with their knees as they sat in crissross-applesause. George shifted a little bit in the grass which kind of awoke Dream a bit as he looked over at the brunette.

George looked up at Dream and simply hummed and then leaned his head on Dream's shoulder, relaxing into the warmth as if it was thirty degrees Fahrenheit. As for Dream, he stiffened a bit not expecting George to do this so willingly since he was a very closed off person. Well, he started it. Dream thought as he stretched his arm gracefully over his shorter friend, he too relaxed as George just melted into his grasp.

They sat there, enjoying the calm bliss that this brought them. It was so romantic, everything was, the cherry blossoms, the park, the shade in the heat, the tight, protective grasp that Dream had around George, and George's calm, peaceful, presence.

"Dream?" George asked quietly, looking back up at the blonde who still had his arm around him. Dream hummed in acknowledgement. "I have something to tell you a-and I've been wanting to tell you this for a while. Um, but uh, yeah-" He rambled out, clearly waiting for some reassurance from Dream that he could say what he needed to say.

"Well, take your time. I'm listening." Dream finally stopped his friend's rambling, squeezing George a tighter. George's face reddened as he looked down to hide a little.

"Well, uh-" he started but took a deep breath before continuing, "Well, I like you. I-I have had this feeling for, god who knows how long, but that's not the point I like-like you and if you don't feel the same that's alri-" Dream grabbed George's chin, stopping him mid-word, he then leaned in but then paused once they were centimeters apart as if waiting for George. Within moments, George leaned in as well, their lips connecting perfectly in unison.

It was a blissful, love filled, moment. One which you wished someone could take a picture of it was so perfect.

What felt like 0.01 seconds to the boys passed, they separated, smiling brightly at one another. George happily cuddled up into Dream's open arms, sighing with content he began watching the people around them again and the creek. As for Dream he kept his eyes on George, and I thought it would never happen.

"I love you, George." Knowing George, Dream expected just a simple hum back, or some kind of sarcastic remark but instead...

"I love you too, Dream." he said it ever so quietly, but when he did, he looked up at Dream to find the brightest, happiest, smile someone could ever wear. George only giggled and buried himself back into Dream. "I love you too."
