Emily's P.O.V

*crunch*
Another few leaves broke under my foot on my lonely walk home. It was peaceful, the trees swayed in the light breeze, all beautiful colours of red and yellow painted the leaves. Yes, autumn was definitely better.

My arms began to ache from carrying my binder of books the whole way home, my mathematics book being the heaviest of course. It wasn't exactly a far walk, maybe around ten to fifteen minutes if I was lucky, that is, if I wasn't harassed by Justin's stupid friend Jay. You need to learn your place. those words still haunted me, reminded me of what they had done to me.

The bruises had not faded in the slightest. my stomach and rib age were still a deep and disgusting purple colour, and I won't even start on how much make up I had to put on to hide the marks they left on my face.

I turned the final corner leading to my quaint little house on the end of the street. despite me hating to have had to move here, I admit it's quite beautiful on days like this. I couldn't help but enjoy it.

I walked up the front steps to the white worn out wooden door, and walked inside. Placing my binder down on the kitchen counter, I grabbed a glass from the high cupboard and poured myself a glass of water. Slowly sipping the cool water I thought about today, realising something. after Iziah dissapeared, no one picked on me like they usually would. it was quite strange to say the least, considering I still hadn't heard from him.

-----{FEW HOURS LATER}-----

Watching the same old shows on repeat eventually got quite boring, and adding to my frustration there were no decent new movies to watch either. All the new movies these days are crappy sequels to tired old movies that were hardly good the first time around. With a sigh of frustration I decided to get off the couch and do something a bit more productive, woo.

Since my grandmother was at her old friend Barbra's house for a cup of tea, I decided to step into the kitchen and make dinner myself. I had taken enough cooking classes at school to know how to make something simple yet satisfying.

I scoured the pantry for anything I could turn into a decent meal. eventually I found a jar of pasta sauce deciding on spaghetti and meatballs, one of my sisters favourites because hey, it's not like she can hate me anymore than she already does for making her favourite meal.

Shaking the thoughts of my sister from my head I started on the meatballs, mixing certain spices together along with some fresh herbs and the mince for the meatballs in a large bowl, later adding the sauce. Now time for the fun part, I wet my hands before reaching into the bowl and scooping out some of the mixture before making it into a ball shape.

After making quite a lot of meatballs I heated up the pan with some oil, while doing this I filled a large pot with some water, salt and spaghetti, bringing it to a boil.

Eventually I was finished the cooking stage and began plating up my creation onto three plates, which still left us with left over, and then decorating the food with Parmesan and fresh basil leaves from our garden. Just as I brought the food to the table I heard the familiar sound of keys clicking open the front door. I heard chatter of two people so I am guessing my sister picked up my grandmother from Barbra's house on her way home.

"Emily dear are you home?" she called from the hallway, "Yes I'm in the dining room if you'd like to join me, I made dinner." I said proudly as she entered. it wasn't often the she let us girls cook for her so I was excited to have pulled this off. I heard Abby scoff from the front door, she probably thinks I'm trying to poison her and what not.

"Oh Emily sweetie this is lovely, you're so kind to us my dear." she stated as she sat next to me at the dining table, Abby following suit. My grandmother said our prays and we then dug in. I was happy with what I had cooked up, it wasn't awful, it was actually quite enjoyable, but what surprised me most was the faint almost in audible whisper from my sister sitting across from me, "this is so good."

I was shocked but didn't show it, not wanting her to realise I had heard her and risk ruining it. I left her words lingering in the air.
