Chapter 19

Iziah's P.O.V

I laid helplessly on the ground in the cold dirty basement. I could feel blood trickling down my cheek and spilling from my lips. The awful metallic taste filling my mouth as I breathed heavily. He had been wearing a set of fairly worn out brass knuckles, the kind they use in old fashioned gang movies, but none the less they still hurt like a bitch.

Suddenly, I heard what sounded like someone walking out from under the stair case. Thinking it was Justin I readied myself for another blow only to see it was just a girl. I could barely see what she looked like in the dimly lit room but from what I could see she didnt look very tall. She bent down to my level, looking at me intently, as if trying to see if I was alive or not.

"Are you okay? I saw what he did to you," she asked quietly.

"To be completely honest, I'm not great, he hit me quite hard as i'm sure you saw."

"Here let me help you up, I'll take you to the nurse."

She gestured her hand to me as she stood up. Gratefully I took her hand to help pull myself up, while being careful not to pull her to the ground.

Though I could barely see her, she looked vaguely familiar, only I couldn't figure out whether I knew her or not.

"Have we met before? You look sort of familiar." I stated while looking at her, trying to figure out who she was.

"I'll explain soon but right now all that matters is getting you to the nurse, my name's Alice by the way."

"Iziah."

"Can I ask something?" she said while biting her lip.

"Yeah sure,"

"Why didn't you fight back?"

I was hoping she didn't ask that, it was a bit if a confusing reason and I did not feel up to explaining it right now.

"Um I'll explain later, long story."
As we made it to the top of the stairs she reached out and opened the door cautiously. she poked her head out and I assume checked if it was clear. when she finished she gently tugged on my arm, signalling me that it was okay, and we slowly and painfully began walking to the nurse.
