A Wolf and A Raven

~20~ War?

I break through the foliage and see Diaval sitting there. "(Y/n)." He stands up and we hug.

"I told you I'd be back." I smile and look at him. "Diaval there's something I need to tell you."

"What is it?" He asks.

"I- um... I like you, a lot. I... um..."

He cuts me off with a soft kiss. "I like you too, (Y/n). Very much."

I laugh and pull him into another hug, my heart flutters.

"Now come on or we're going to miss a wedding." I smile and grab his arm.

I almost run over the three fairies when I turn around. "Are you going in that?" One of them asks.

"Umm." I look down at my dress that has various stains and holes. "I suppose it would be best if I changed."

"There's a dress in the castle for you from Aurora. She told us to tell you before the wedding."

"Oh! Thanks!" Still holding Diaval's arm, I race off towards the castle.

We weave through the halls until we get to what I use as my room. In there sits a beautiful (f/c) dress.

"Oh wow." I say. I grab the dress and jump behind the changing screen.

After a little struggle I get the dress on and step out. Diaval is sitting on the bed waiting when I come out.

"Wow." He says under his breath.

"Is it bad?" I ask.

"What? No. No. No. It's beautiful. You're beautiful." He flushes after realizing what he said.

I laugh and walk up to him. I give him a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you pretty bird." I smile.

We link arms and make our way out of the castle. We join up with the rest of the fair folk heading to Ulstead.

We all walk together towards Ulstead in a big herd. The fairies are buzzing around in excitement. There are guards on either side of us as we walk through the gates. One guard steps in front of me and Diaval.   

"Stop right there." The guard says.   

"We're with the bride." I explain.

"We've been told to let the, uh, other kind find their seats first." The guard says.

"But we're not humans. I'm a raven. She's a wolf." Diaval says.

"What?" The guard says.

"A raven. Black bird."

"A wolf. Wild dog."

The guard however does not believe us and leads us over to other humans waiting to go in and complaining.

I look at Diaval. "What do we do now?" I ask.

He looks around before taking my hand and leading me out of the crowd. We sneak around the city ducking from guards and avoiding people. We get to the end of an empty street where the wall looms before us.

I climb up and peek over to see a bunch of guards on the wall. I jump back down and whisper to Diaval. "There's loads of guards up there. It's like they're preparing for war."

We climb up.

"You go. I'll distract them." I whisper.

"No, I'm not leaving you." Diaval says.

I cut him off with a kiss to the lips. "Go please."

With a red face he nods and jumps over the wall while I hop up on a different side. I whistle loudly and the guards look at me.

"Hi boys." I wave.

The guards aim their weapons at me and I run towards them knocking one out while kicking another. I duck out of the way of a swing and jump off the wall and hide in a nearby bush as the sky becomes covered in lots of red dust and winged people. I get out of the bush and rush over to the chapel where I see Aurora and Diaval.

Before I can get there, however, guards come between me and them. I glare and charge at the closest guard. Mid way into my charge my skin changes to fur and my fingers to claws.

"Yes!" I leap on the closest guard and pin him down. I take out the rest and run over to where Aurora and Diaval are being held by guards. I jump and pull the top guard off Diaval.

"(Y/n)!" I hear Aurora shout. I kick the guard away and suddenly Diaval has transformed into a giant bear. I feel myself changing too and pretty soon I'm about the same size as Diaval, but a wolf.

The guards flee and I look back at Aurora who's looking at the sky. I look up too and see bright green light. I see Maleficent fly over to us. She looks different and angry. Green mist surrounds her. I tilt my head in confusion before she flies off without saying a word.

I look back at Aurora and Diaval. Together we're able to break the doors open and free the fairies. In the distance I see some guards pointing in our direction. I growl and charge at them, my longer legs carrying me twice as fast across the field. I knock them down and bite at some.

I cry out when I feel a sting in my side. I whip around and take out the guard that shot me. Across the field I see a fae that's trapped with ropes around her feet. I run over and bite the men holding her.

I attack any and every guard that gets close to me. I feel another cut in my hind leg. Guards surround me with their blades drawn. I feel as helpless as when I first met Maleficent.

I close my eyes waiting for the end when I hear the roaring of a bear. I open my eyes to see a few men knocked out and the rest scatter. I look up at Diaval who steps closer to me examining my wounds. I rub my head against his, telling him I'm okay.

I feel a shift in size and suddenly I'm back to normal and Diaval is back to a raven, my wounds have also healed. But something's off. I can feel it in my heart...

Maleficent is dead.

Me and Diaval share a sad glance as we look towards the tower we last saw Maleficent. Tears glisen in my eyes as I hang my head.

"Maleficent is dead! We will never again live in fear!" The queen shouts from her tower.

I howl in anguish.

"Ulstead is free at last."
