Today's the day. The dreaded day. It's Aurora's birthday. I could hardly get any sleep last night.

"Fairy godmother!" Aurora calls.

I look up from where I sit to see Aurora running towards Maleficent.

"I'm here." Maleficent says as she steps towards Aurora.

"When were you going to tell me that I'm cursed?" Aurora asks with tears in her eyes.

My eyes widen.

She knows!

I get to my feet and move to Maleficent's side.

Maleficent doesn't say anything to Aurora.

"Is it true?" Aurora asks shakily.

"It is." Maleficent says softly.

Aurora sniffles, "My aunts said it was an evil fairy. I- I can't remember her name. They said it was..."

"Maleficent." Maleficent says softly.

Aurora nods and looks at Maleficent. "Is that you?" She asks softly as if she doesn't want to believe it. "Are you Maleficent?"

Maleficent's silence is enough of an answer for Aurora. Maleficent takes a step towards Aurora but she backs away.

"No stay away, you're the evil that's in this world. It's you!" Aurora says before turning and running off.

Maleficent stands there speechless for a moment before she yells, "Find the boy!"

Diaval flies from his perch on whatever tree he was on and searches for Philip. I run after Aurora.

I follow her all the way back to the cottage. I stop in front of the door to the stables blocking her way in them.

"(y/n) move." Aurora cries.

I sit down and shake my head. God how I wish I could tell her she's making a mistake.

"Are you evil too?" She asks angrily.

My eyes widen and I shake my head again.

"I'm sorry, I can't go back there. I need to get to my father, to the castle." Aurora tries to move past me but I block her way. "(y/n) please let me go."

When I don't move Aurora sighs.

"Fine come on then." I follow her away from the stables and towards the cottage.

Before I realise what's happening Aurora slips a rope around my neck. I pull at the rope but it's tied to a huge tree. I can't get my head free.

"I'm sorry." Aurora cries before she runs off to the stable.

I pull after her trying to break the rope but it doesn't budge. I whine and bark for her to come back but she doesn't listen.

I watch helplessly as Aurora mounts a horse and takes off towards the castle.

I pull with all my strength but the rope doesn't so much as creak. I'm panting and tired when I finally give up. I look at the rope connecting me to the tree trying to come up with a way to break free.

I could try to chew through it but the rope is thick and that will take ages. But what other option do I have. I grab some of the rope between my teeth and start gnawing on it. I hardly get through it when I hear the sound of a raven.

Diaval!

I run to the edge of my rope and bark to get his attention.

Please help! I silently beg.

I see him fly down to me and land in front of me. He looks between me and the rope. He nods and flies off to find Maleficent.

I sit and wait.

A little while later they come back but this time with a sleeping Philip in tow. Maleficent waves her fingers and the rope tying me to the tree vanishes.

I nod a thanks.

"I need a horse." Maleficent says.

Diaval puffs up his chest as if to say challenge accepted.

Maleficent turns him into a horse and we race off towards the castle.
