Ring, Ring, Ring. The bell rang to signify the end of school. My first week of school is of to a great start.... Or so I thought until,
"Lolli White, I need you to stay for a few extra minutes. You too, Theodore," Ms. Birch, my math teacher says. I walk over to her desk along with Theo. He is a smart jock. Hard to believe, I know.
"Lolli, you have only been here a week, and in today's pop quiz you barely got half of the questions correct." Ms. Birch says with her southern accent. I look down, ashamed. "Theodore, you got them all correct so I want you to tutor her for the next month or so."
"But, I have track and soccer practice," Theo whines like a two-year-old.
"And I have volleyball," I say.
"I don't care," Ms. Birch says sternly. "You are going to work out your problems and have afterschool tutoring sessions." Little does she know that I have more problems with Theo than a vegan does with chicken.
I quickly jog out and find my dad's SUV parked outside. "Where were you?" Dad asks. I tell him what happened, and he, Bree, and Luca nod along. My dad is the fun parent and my mom is strict. When we get home, I tell mom.
"I think tutoring will be good for you," my mom say.
"I agree," Dad says. After dinner I go into my bedroom. It is mostly shades of orange with a few other colors here and there. I fall back into my bed and try to fall asleep, but all I can think about is Theo Snider.
